Well looks like im getting some drag radials

Does anyone have prior experience with the bfg's or the nittos?

I know the bfg's hook better than the nittos but don't last as long and aren't as good on the street....

I have the Nitto DR's 305/35/18. They have hooked better than any other street tire I've driven on (Falken, Dunlop, Kumho, and Firestone), and they last a heck of a lot longer than expected. I've got about 10k miles on them and the tread shows no sign of wear (even though the tread looks worn out when you buy it anyways) :rlaugh:

Ive run through countless sets of nittos, and I am on my first set of bfgs. There is really no comparison between the two as far as performance. Nittos are junk IMO. However, if it is a daily driver and has to see the consistant galveston rain, Nittos are your only option.

It completely depends on HOW you want to use the tires.

Nittos are the only drag radial that will last more than 3-4k miles, and the only logical choice if you are going to daily drive the tires(unless you like buying new tires every oil change). They can last 10k+ miles pretty easily, but because of the higher treadwear they aren't as sticky. You have to get quite a bit of heat in the tire before they become sticky. This is what I bought to daily drive the 88 2.3 on.

The other tires have superior traction but may only last 2-4k miles. Certainly, you could drive to and from the drag strip, but crusing around town you'll wear them out quickly.

I chose nittos because I wanted I tire I could always drive around on. If I need something stickier than the nitto, I'll buy another set of tires to bolt on at the track. The nittos should be good for at least a 1.8 60' on a stock suspension, and 1.6s with some drag oriented changes.

Yeah I think nitto suck to, I had a set and could not even think of hooking at the track, so I bought a set of BFG,s and there great. I have MT 315's now, but think the BFG's hook better. I'am going to try Hoosier's 315/35/17 drag radial next after the MT's are gone. BTW I went from running 8.5s on nittos to 7.9 on BFGS, belive it or not.

315/35/17

got them for 175 each...not too bad

good deal man!

Thats not bad at all. They hook better than nittos on the street, and dont require a massive burnout like the nittos either.

Just watch out for an NA NPI car at HMP or HRP, you might be seeing my tail.

JK though, Im sure you would hand it to me.

we def all need to meet up soon. I need a clutch, D98gt(maddox) is just just plain slow:rlaugh: , and its summertime with that hot, sticky air. Save some of that rubber for the fall. BTW, I have 20 passes with burnouts, and 2k on my bfg's. They are holding up fine, cant really tell that they are used. You want the center 2 bars on the bfgs to be bald, which mine arent yet, to get the best traction out of them. Many people get rid of them when they are just being broken in.

There's about 6,000 miles on BFGoodrich Drag Radials, with about 25 passes on them. After three or four real good burnouts on them, they became difficult to handle in the rain. There's only certain kinds of cement in the rain that I have trouble with, so I had a few VERY scary moments sneak up on me. I'm going to get some Sumitomos again, since they are back to $99 each for 315s on Tirerack, and am going to get some slicks and drag wheels for the track.

:notnice:

I think I am heading to HRP tonight actually to get a few runs in. Nothing has exactly changed but I haven't raced in a few weeks and it's getting to me already:rlaugh:
