Im in the process of pulling my engine and trans but 4 bolts are keeping me from it. The 4 nuts that mount the driveshaft to the rear, Its 2 U bolts and 4 nuts, 1/2in I think. They wrap around the driveshaft mounting it to the rear. I been trying for awhile to brake them and there just stripping. If I cut them off are they tough to replace or can I buy a new pair online? Its a Ford 9in rear in a 73' Mustang.

Thanks,
Jim

I'm guessing you mean you are rounding the nuts, not stripping? I'd try vise grips and some penetrating oil. When I replaced mine on my 69 they were really lose. I just went to the local parts store and they were able to match some up, not using any part numbers.

Thanks guys. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't one of them hard to find parts. Its crazy what some small things that probally cost 50 cents in the 60's and 70's for the car cost today.
