i wouldnt say mid 12s are out of the question for it but he would have to drive it really well. high 12s i could see with just a turbo back.

How so? Mach1's need slicks to hit high 12's, these guys are AWD laying down similar numbers (possibly lighter on the tq side 300/300 vs 335/335 before the rating changes). The new 350z can nail 13.2-3's with stock tires and a good driver with 300hp and only 260tq. that only .1 behind a Mach1.

I know the STi will get out of the hole faster then a 350Z and has 40lbs more tq and i believe it is also a slightly lighter car.

FWIW, I raced in NASA souteast, the 350z and the sti are in a class with the terminator cobras, so compare apples to apples not sti's to gts and machs.
Yeah they're great cars a friend of mine races one, they work well on our shorty "slot car tracks" that we have around here, but once the mustangs get out of second gear, the sti's start to fade. Pick your track, pick your car, one brand will always be better than another in a specific situation.

LOL like hell they are. 350z's and STi's are more in line with 99(post-fix)/01 Cobra and Mach1's. When was the last time you saw a STi/350 making near mid-12's like Term's? They are deep 13/high 12 cars like the 99-04 N/A 4v.

the STi and 350Z will beat any stock(from Ford/SVT) Mustang on a autoX course.

My friend has an 07 Z we race all the time. and I have let to lose by more then 1/2 car due him having a better launch. I all I have is a Shifter.

Really now..ANY auto-x course?

http://nasaxflorida.com/srfiles/nasa-x-classing.pdf

The STI's were also added to class "C"
maybe you better call NASA and have them fix their rule book.

ok NSX, ZR-1 and C5...yet in the same class as a Mach1? who made those classes ? retards?

lol ZX2 S/R and a Focus ST in the same class, Not to mention the SVTF is in the same league as a Mazdaspeed Protege, if anything they should all be in the same class or the s/r put in the SVTF class.

...Yeah ****ing idiots made this setup.

Congrats for your friend they are great cars.
My Subaru is alot more dependable than my mustang
ever was.Subaru actually has one of best warranties
in the business if you don't plan on modding your car
much.I like the body style of the WRX and STI plus the
interior doesn't look all cheap like the EVO.
The STI is more rally car inspired and people I wouldn't call it
rice because it has a functional wing.
I hope your friend gets EM soon.

well this is actually where a lot of people look down on the turbo 4s. with just a turboback exhaust i bet he is making another 35-40hp. I had a buddy who had an 04 STI with turbo back and he was def in the 12s with that car.

I agree if we talk about a roll race the mach would catch up cause that 4wd is not good from higher speed rolls. but with awd its going to rip a mach a new one off the line thats why they are so fast. I rarely see machs running low 13s like they are suppose to but an sti its fairly easy with awd. at my track heck the mach 1s arent even getting out of the 9s. STIs and evos are running all over the 8s I havent seen any 7s yet.

The 03/04 Cobra front bumper cover and hood makes
me want to vomit. The spoiler on the 03/04 Cobra reminds me
of a flapping duck.
I also know how unreliable the 03/04 Cobra is and how many
parts that break that are not covered under the Ford warranty.
All the Subaru customers I have ever talked to were very happy
with there cars and would buy a Subaru again.
All Subaru's hold their value over the years 100,000,000X better
than any Ford ever will and you will save alot of money on buying gasoline.
