I have always been wondering what it would take to swap a normal wet sump oiling system on a fox body over to a dry sump oiling system. What would be the advantage, and would it still be something that you could drive on a daily basis?

It's still completely streetable, but it's flippin' expensive. Might gain 1 or 2 hp, and oil temps shouuuuld be a tad lower. Since you wouldn't have to run much of an oil pan, you get more clearance there, too.

The new 500hp Vette has dry sump oiling.

Best thing I could think about it,is adding a vacuum pump with it and pulling alot of crankcase vacuum along with the good oil cotrol and low restriction filter. It would really move some oil, helping your bearings.

For street applications - totally not worth it. Plus try finding another spot for the external tank (and no it will not be 5 quarts capacity, but much larger).

I agree. Any benefits from a dry sump setup will not offset the cost on a street car.
