just get a wrx, they are reliable, I cant say that about an eclipse, or a dsm piece of trash. They break all the time. A good 5.0 wont ever let you down unless you get a piece crap like mine, that broke in a week ina half. Our 95gt never had probs with the engine, we drove it 22k HARD!! miles, burnouts, powerslides, power-shifts, alot of stuff and never complained.

thanks for the input! i dont know much about the generations, i just know a few basics about them. oh, and that the cranks like to take a walk

I daily drove my fox in highschool, but **** does break, so be prepared to fix it..even the little stuff.

There is a guy who graduated from my school last year with a STI making 400 some AWD power! He worked at a mercedes dealership though.

I thought you said you wanted the sn95.

I still vote fox, my buddy had a dsm, it was always broken and in the shop.
then he got a 90 lx and it didn't have any problems.

modified cars break. period. whether its engine stuff, or stupid little mechanical things...like door lock actuators.

i dont know much about DSMs but i know that my fox gets right around 25+ mpg highway with 3.73s, parts are very inexpensive for foxes too!! hence...its easy to make power!! check out mob's gt40 head swap!! he'll be in the 12's with basically junkyard parts! (except for the cam/exhaust/maybe somethin else) IMO that alone makes a fox a better choice.

The comment about foxes needing more maintenance is honestly NOT TRUE AT ALL! You will most likely be buying a used car. Meaning someone owned it before you. What if the DSM owner beat the crap out of it? More stuff would be worn or ready to be replaced than if you got a nice fox/sn95 that had been well maintained. The argument goes both ways here, you cannot assume the fox will need work right off the bat IMO. I bought my 93 with 70ishK miles. I have not needed to replace anything really. Nothing is broken (unless i broke it --> alternator ) other than maaaybe the suspension is a little worn. What if you bought an eclipse with 70k miles?? it would be the same i think.

granted the AWD would be better in snow for a hs senior with his first powerful car, but that cant always be used as a crutch, eventually people need to learn not to drive like retards in poor conditions.

uhnn no.... our 86 has over 230k on it and guess what... it has never left us ont he road it start the first time every time no matter if we just took it down the 1/4 and then shutting it off will start right back up.

so no i dont agree on that. my mustang has 52,005 on it and i tell you what... when we take it just up the street i make sure i have just about everything in the trunk, jumpers, tire, jack, all that. in the 86 all we have it a thing of water in the trunk...(in case it starts running hot, never dose but just in case) and a jack and a spare tire thats it.

we took the 86 just yesterday 300 miles round trip with from every stop sign red light my dad really getting on it and it took whatever he threw at it. and that's with 230k+ on engine and tranny, rear end has like 6k on it. it was rebuilt.

so miles really dont matter. in fact sometimes the less miles the more problems unless it was stored and tooken care of.

I have had both and honestly I liked the DSM a lot better. The guy earlier who said they are crap in snow needs to learn to drive, my 90 awd went great in the snow. I had 160,000 miles and with ONLY an exhaust and a 16g turbo I ran a 12.86 @ 105 mph with a 1.6 60 ft. The tranny issue is clutch adjustment. Adjust it right with a good clutch no more problems. Go to shepracing.com look at his car on video running 7's with 4 cyl's. I only have my mudstain because I got it for 600.00, it is in good shape with e cam trick flow U\L 3.73's and other things. I am going to turbo it soon. I love turbos. Buy what you want you will be driving it. If you build a mustang the t5 will not last either, like the other guy said earlier a modded car will break, is exactly right. Not all cars are built from the factory to handle 400 plus horsepower like vettes and vipers etc. I am not biased on any cars, if the car makes good power and is fast I do not care if it is even a (don't kill me for this) honda. GOOD luck with whatever you choose..

Eh Uuuh, if you read the post you will see I never said I owned a honda nor did I say I would give my stang away. Reread the post, it says I liked my dsm better. I owned my DSM for five years, I put in a stronger tranny and had no more problems. A stock t5 will not handle hard shift either so people cannot complain about trannies. And for the t-cases on a dsm they are not bad they have a recall on the yoke seal, get it fixed and no more problems. DSM's are bada$$ cars admit it. I would love to see a mustang daily driver run 11's on street tires. Not going to happen, BUT a DSM will, it will run in the 10's. People need to learn to respect other fast cars. I have also seen a Neon srt4 run 12's that is good for a Neon.. Show some respect.

Ill show respect because i drove a 93 eclipse for 4 years, but the interior is cheap as hell, the rear bumpers almost always sag (so you get those nice 3 little bumps back there) the stock transfer cases are crap... If i ever get another DSM it will have the same treatment dude at buschers shop did with that talon, flip the 4G63T sideways and make it rear wheel drive.

DSM's are badass, and I'll agree with you that a lot of their breakage problems are overrated. And they are also cheap to mod just like the 5.0. Amazing what a turbo car can do. However, I will disagree with you on saying a daily stang running 11s not happening. You send me the cash, it will run 11's on street tires, and I will daily it until it blows up. Just send me the cash. And I'm aiming for 11's on the gas with my upcoming buildup, but it won't be with street tires. And it will be daily driven. And if I can get it close I will sure as hell bet it can be done on street tires.

I am talking more of racing on the street running an 11 sec car against another like a DSM, I see the mustang getting WASTED, trust me I have done it sooo many times it was not funny. I am in no way saying MUSTANGS are slow at all. I am just saying the DSM is faster stock and can be built just like a Stang. I am not saying you cannot drive an 11 sec stang daily I know you can I have a friend who ran 11.10 at 121 mph all motor on a 90 plus degree day. I go to the track more than most people on this site and I see alot of fast cars. I have seen Phil Hines run his burnt orange mustang at 7.80 which is damn good. I have also seen a vette which I truly hate older vettes run a 6.96 with a 350 turbo'ed. I would like to see a mustang run in the 11's with a stock intake stock cam and completly stock heads. I have seen hundrdes of DSM's do it. Most guys who have Mustangs think they have a fast car just because it is a mustang, a stock stang is not fast at all. I honestly do love my stang but I loved the DSM more I am entitled to my opinion. Go to Shepracing.com and watch his videos if you are grown up enough to respect horsepower you will like what you see. (not talking about the guy in the quote, I am talking about everyone).
