so no i dont agree on that. my mustang has 52,005 on it and i tell you what... when we take it just up the street i make sure i have just about everything in the trunk, jumpers, tire, jack, all that. in the 86 all we have it a thing of water in the trunk...(in case it starts running hot, never dose but just in case) and a jack and a spare tire thats it.
we took the 86 just yesterday 300 miles round trip with from every stop sign red light my dad really getting on it and it took whatever he threw at it. and that's with 230k+ on engine and tranny, rear end has like 6k on it. it was rebuilt.
so miles really dont matter. in fact sometimes the less miles the more problems unless it was stored and tooken care of.
end rant.![]()

I am in no way saying MUSTANGS are slow at all. I am just saying the DSM is faster stock and can be built just like a Stang. I am not saying you cannot drive an 11 sec stang daily I know you can I have a friend who ran 11.10 at 121 mph all motor on a 90 plus degree day. I go to the track more than most people on this site and I see alot of fast cars. I have seen Phil Hines run his burnt orange mustang at 7.80 which is damn good. I have also seen a vette which I truly hate older vettes run a 6.96 with a 350 turbo'ed. I would like to see a mustang run in the 11's with a stock intake stock cam and completly stock heads. I have seen hundrdes of DSM's do it. Most guys who have Mustangs think they have a fast car just because it is a mustang, a stock stang is not fast at all. I honestly do love my stang but I loved the DSM more I am entitled to my opinion. Go to Shepracing.com and watch his videos if you are grown up enough to respect horsepower you will like what you see. (not talking about the guy in the quote, I am talking about everyone).
You say the DSM stock vs 5.0 stock, the DSM will win. Well your right, and the DSM has a TURBO while the mustang is N/A. The DSM is a fast car, ill give that to ya, but w/o that turbo it is nothing. If a 5.0 added a simple turbo against the DSM, I wonder who would win90lxboost'n said:I am talking more of racing on the street running an 11 sec car against another like a DSM, I see the mustang getting WASTED, trust me I have done it sooo many times it was not funny. Ill give any car that runs a good time respect. You can make any car fast and all it takes is money. Its just that Id rather be driving in a 11 sec mustang than an 11 sec DSM and thats just my opinion.90lxboost'n said:Eh Uuuh, if you read the post you will see I never said I owned a honda nor did I say I would give my stang away. Reread the post, it says I liked my dsm better. I owned my DSM for five years, I put in a stronger tranny and had no more problems. A stock t5 will not handle hard shift either so people cannot complain about trannies. And for the t-cases on a dsm they are not bad they have a recall on the yoke seal, get it fixed and no more problems. DSM's are bada$$ cars admit it. I would love to see a mustang daily driver run 11's on street tires. Not going to happen, BUT a DSM will, it will run in the 10's. People need to learn to respect other fast cars. I have also seen a Neon srt4 run 12's that is good for a Neon.. Show some respect.

I thought you said you wanted the sn95.
I still vote fox, my buddy had a dsm, it was always broken and in the shop.
then he got a 90 lx and it didn't have any problems.
Yes the DSM has a turbo but the stang is a v8. Take a 4 banger stang, what a turd. Take a dsm n\a and a stang n\a who will win, DSM.:shrug. I have a friend who has a DSM totally yes I mean totally stock, stock exhaust no boost controller, nothing, it ran 13.58 @ 99 mph stock. My DSM did awesome in the snow at any speed, you just need good tires. The only fun about a Mustang is getting sideways like crazy. I do honestly like driving my stang because more people look at it over a DSM. BUt the DSM was more fun busting the a$$es of the many many stangs around me. If me and my buddy took our DSM's up town on fri. or sat. night no camaro's or stang's would grow some ball$ and race.gcwh02 said:You say the DSM stock vs 5.0 stock, the DSM will win. I did read that, but no one on this site imo would be able to do that. There are other things done I am sure that we are not told about. If someone one here has one lets see it. Most of the time guys will build a 9 or 10 sec car and run 11's or 12's because most people wish they could drive instead of actually being able to. 90% driver 10% car.. Face the fact. I see it alot at the track damn fast car horrible driver all the time. Good luck to what ever the guy buys at least he is a car guy and not a Honda whatever you call them people, maybe under educated. Just do not buy an AOD car they must be built by DSM they always go out when abused. And do not beat on a t5 they break to. Also watch for smoke inside the stang mainly near the headlight switch the tend to melt... GOOD LUCK.RS200 said:Ummm...Read up on MM&FF's Hooligan HotRod. Bone stock junkyard engine (throttle body, intake manifold, heads etc). They added HP Performance's 60mm turbo kit (at 13 psi), a Lentech AOD w/ brake, a budget 31 spline diff, all the stock-style drag suspension stuff and slicks..went 10.69 @ 126. Turbo technology is just getting started..with a well thought out combination, 9s are going to be hit very soon with a stock engine.
That car is my favorite 5.0 ever.

who didnt know that? This thread was the 5.0 vs. the DSM, not a 2.3 Vs. DSM.90lxboost'n said:Yes the DSM has a turbo but the stang is a v8. Take a 4 banger stang, what a turd. Who did not know that, the guy said take the turbo off the dsm it will be a turd, well take four of the cylinders off the stang. The dsm came factory WITH A TURBO, if you want to take something from it take something from the stang. Also leave the stock block in the mustang, see what it will run til it cracks. If the dsm's were so much of a junk pile why are there no aftermarket heads, or blocks. Ask John shepherd who made his block, I guarantee you it is a mitsubishi block. Also the crankwalk problem is mainly in the 7 bolts. They did not know it would do this until it was to late and people were already modding them and crank walk happend. Everbody knows 6 bolt dsm's are bada$$ for only 120 cu.in.. It is damn good 120 cu.in. will beat 302 cu.in and also 350 cu.in. Turbo technology has come a LONG way mainly THANKS to MITSUBISHI who started the biggest turbo craze. Yes I know they were on the svo's and turbo poops, but the production did not last as long nor did they run as good.gcwh02 said:who didnt know that? This thread was the 5.0 vs. the DSM, not a 2.3 Vs. I am sorry, I was talking about running those numbers with the exact same build, those guys are pro's and we are not. We just like to build our stuff and run it for the fun of it. I also will be turboing my mustang hopefully this winter, I am going to do my own kit. I do everything on my own (by myself with no ones help) like many others on here, I will not buy something and take it to a shop and pay someone to put it on.RS200 said:I'm doing the whole HHR thing right now - anyone can do it. I have a TTI (Turbo Technology Inc.) single turbo kit (upgrading to T70), and I'm going to do a basic rebuild, built AOD w/ brake, drag suspension, etc. All of the performance mods are going to check in under $10000. Check out Turbo Mustangs and see what some of the guys there are doing. Example, Mustang with Exploder shortblock running 10.35. You can have the performance and keep the drivability with turbos.
I should of rephrased myself when I said "take off the turbo and its nothing". I should of said it takes a power adder to compete. Just like a normal civic, it takes them a power adder to compete also, its just that Mitsubishi threw one on their cars stock.90lxboost'n said:Who did not know that, the guy said take the turbo off the dsm it will be a turd, well take four of the cylinders off the stang.
