Dude with Black GT with the fins on the roof.

I cant for the lfe of me remember who that is.
Black Aero SN with some really expensive mesh wheels and the weird little fins on his roof.
He just put some massive brakes on the car and I was trying to find the thread but forgot thr title.

Anyone know who it is? It was in 4.6 Talk a few months back.

I was thinking they were 6 piston brakes. They are nice and all but the Brembos for over a grand cheaper would be my choice. I realize its a 13" rotor instead of his 14" rotor but its still a nice 4 piston caliper.

Wonder if you could then take the stock front two piston caliper and fit it to rhe rear?

I'm having wheels made to fit the brakes i'll eventually get. No stoptech BS either.

the brembo's are cool but the 14" rotors look awesome but a grand is alot of money. i would go big if i could afford it.

i dont think the factory fronts will fit though, unless you get custom brackets made. plus you wont have use of the parking brake if you do that.

Nothing wrong with Stop Techs.
The SSBCs are only 4- pistons too.
I really like the new Shelby 6-pistons with 14" rotors but I have no clue if they could fit on the SN
Brembo makes two very nice 13" 4-piston setups for the Stangs. One is the 2000R setup for $1300 and the other is their system for $1400 and looks damn near identical but if you look close you can see its the much better calipers with progressive sized pistons. That kit prolly wont kill its seald on the track like the Cobra Brembo kit does.

So what system you looking at? Willwood?

do some research before you bash the stoptechs. Brembos are the most overated brakes on the market, and the most overpriced. People see the name and cream themselves, and they take advantage of it. My kit is the 13" one with TWO PIECE ROTORS, and 4 piston calipers. Retail for my kit was over $2100, but I got the last pair from americanmuscle.com for around $1600. You cant even touch a two piece kit from brembo for under $3000. Plus the fact that I can use any pads that fit a Porsche is a nice plus too. I dont need to pay out the ass for Brembo specific pads.

Brembo 6-Pot. More expensive than the custom-made wheels from Japan (I just found out). Wheels are only $2795 shipped.

STOP HATING

Brembo may be overpriced, but they sure as hell are not overrated.

I don't mind paying a little extra for the innovator.

to play the devils advocate, couldn't you apply that to ever blower company other than eaton? Aren't garrett turbos the industry standard? In my industry the standard is a software/harware called Protools, and it's certainly not the best the field has to offer, at least in my opinion. Sometimes a name that people can identify with means a little more than it's actual ability.

I think Brembos are a great way to go and they deserve to be used by many companys, but that doesn't mean they're without peers because all the car manufacturers use them.

first off, manufacturers do use Stoptech. What do you think your Roush's come with???? Porsche also uses their set-up on 90% of their cars. Just because every car company uses Brembo's dosnt meen they are good. If u want to rock the same brakes as the new Genesis coupe, go right ahead. That aint my style to have the same thing that a Hyundai comes with.

Why dont u call up Maximum Motorsports and ask them why they only sell Stoptechs and Willwood brake kits, and how come they dont sell Brembos. Let me know what they say.

Cause Brembos tend to melt their piston seals when used hard. You cant buy the seal so you are stuck with buying a new caliper.

EDIT: MM does sell Brembo

I was just curious...with all this talk about big expensive brake kits, does anyone actually use them to their potential? I mean, other than looks, I don't know why people put them on their DD stangs.

I've stopped my car from 110 (heavy pressure) without the brakes fading. A good set of pads with some air ducting routed to the center of the rotors does wonders!

Until I start autocrossing my car, or I come into some money, the stockers will do just fine. If anything, i'll put a set of cobra brakes on.

Im not knockin Race-Stang's StopTech brakes at all, they are bad@$$. BUT,,,, until I auto-X my car, & really need brakes of that caliber, my stock Mach 1 PBR's do just fine IMO... I have made multiple hard stops from 100+ mph & have never had an issue with my brakes...

The stock Cobra/Mach brakes are quite nice and with vented rotors and braided lines they do hold up to quite a biy of abuse but if you are doing auto x and its a short course that has a nice straight then you kill them auickly as they will fade compared to a larger setup.

What got me was seeing an article a couple years ago when they took a 98 Cobra and put Wilwoods 6 piston 14" setup on and the rear rotor upgrade and the car stopped from 60 mph in 104' Now thats impressive! And where they were starting to loose brakes after 5 laps they didnt loose a bit of stopping power for the whole race with the Willwoods.

Fins on that car looks like Evo MR, Ricer looks. Other then that his car and rims , brakes looks killer.
