Ok, finally got everything working and got the car dynoe'd this weekend. I am a little disappointed, I wanted to hit 300/300, but came up a little short.
I this combo still has about 20-30 rwhp left in it.

All the runs were done with 16* of timing.
Run 1: 277hp/299tq, 41PSI (fuel pressure), A/F was not hooked up.
Run 2: 281/302, 41PSI, A/F was about 10:1 between 3-6K.
Run 3: 279/306, 39 PSI, A/F was between 10.3-11.0:1 between 3-6K.

Combo is listed in sig. Would I be correct in thinking I can pick up some HP with the car running a little leaner up top? I should be picking up a tweecer for x-mas, so I am hoping to pick up a little power there. I am happy with the torque curve, but I think theres some HP left in the car. If anyone has any comments/suggestions, i'd love to hear them. BTW - I have scanned and attached the graphs from runs 2 & 3 below.

Your torque curve is uncharactaristically flat up to 2,500 rpm. Get your A/F to between 12.8-13.5 and see w3hat your numbers do. Who ported the intake?

Actually, you did Tom. I think it was about January of last year you did it. I really like the job you did on it by the way.

One other thing I forgot to mention. I am running a 1" intake spacer right now b/c it was the only way myelbow would clear the valve covers. I know its probably not optimum for my combo. When I get some time this winter I will be grinding down the EGR mount on the elbow and get a smaller (or no) intake spacer.

Interesting Mark.

We have almost identical combo's, except I Don't have the ported intake and I have 20+rwhp than you.

We'll help figure this out...definitely shoot for a leaner AF ratio. Mine was @ 13.5:1.

Do you have a chip in it? If so...might want to yank that and see what its really doing.

Nope, no chip. I had a really bad experience with JMS, so I'm just going to wait and buy a tweecer. Right now the car is untuned.

My car is "untuned"

No chip, no tuning device, nothing. Was on a dyno right after I did H/C/I just to make just A/F was safe, that's it.

Seems like you might have a problem elsewhere sucking some power.

I do agree that its very possible the c&l maf isn't working good in conjunction with the eec. The eec could be dumping in extra fuel to keep it "safe". Can you borrow a different maf from a friend?

Definately get that a/f ratio to 13.0 - 13.5. You are losing a lot of power running that rich.

Mark

Usually when I see peeps on these forums give details on their dyno results from a new combo one of the first things they discover is that their af ratio is too lean.

Yours is the other way around.

I would suspect the C&L maf.

What was the af ratio from the start of the pull up to 3k rpm?

What did the dyno guy have to say about the fat af ratio?

I had a friend that has 165 AFR's on his 90 GT and before the turbo he put down just about what you did 270's 280's range w/ the 165's. My other friend w/ a 91 LX before his turbo he put down 299 RWHP w/ Trick flow Twisted Weadge heads.

Just gasket matched to a Felpro 1250 (I think, its been a while).

Also, the A/F was about 11-12:1 before 3K, then it richened up to the ~10:1.

What did you have your timing set at? You could probably run at least 14-16 degrees

So, what's that suppose to tell him? He's maxed out the potential of those crappy AFR's and he should just grab some TFS heads? Obviously the car is way too rich. The meter may be the problem, but fix that A/F ratio and you'll find the missing power.

And if correcting the A/F with fuel pressure doesn't do it, then look at the C&L MAF. It's curve may be off or the sample tube may not be in the best position clockwise. That curve sure is funky down low.
