From what I heard on the video, it sounded like your engine was saying "please, oh please, turn me into a 7000 rpm 347. I'm coughing up oil and dying, turn me into a 347"

I'm guessing a little blow by due to going from a full throttle zero vacuum situation to a no throttle high rpm situation with high vacuum? Just a guess

hmm...interesting....are you sure it wasn't saying: "please turn me into a 408 stroker motor with AFR 225's and an FTI custom cam?

Let me be honest....the first pull was 280rwhp and 305rwtq...because the "dyno operator" had my car in 3rd gear. My first impression was...my shortblock is dying, and that means a new begining for something new. But low and behold, he had it in the wrong gear. I'm looking for excuses for a new 351 short block.

I would think your numbers would be higher than that if it was a lower gear like 3rd compared to the 1:1 ratio of 4th.

Hey guys.....

You CAN NOT compare two dyno runs done at different dynos a year apart.....

There are so many factors in dynoing a car...

and no two dynoes ever read the same...

heck, if we wanted to we could show a 10 hp change on a 99-04 GT here with out even modifying the car..

just by changing the conditions.....

Dynos are GREAT for tuning- but as far as comparing two dynos from two different shops over a year apart....

I wouldnt take too much from it-

Like others have said, in your case, let the track be your final test-

I agree, the track will tell more. But this was the same dyno, same operator. The pull from a year ago was 88 degrees and humid. This last pull was upper 60's and dry. Plus there was alot of smoke after the run. I just got both the SAE and non-corrected runs.

This was a Ford dyno day ($60 for 3 pulls with wideband), my friends cars were making similar horsepower numbers from years past, so I figured mine would as well. Probably should have mentioned that in my first post.

The runs were actually very consistent. The first two runs that were done in 3rd gear where both 288rwhp, 306rwtq. The next three runs were all 301rwhp and 326-327rwtq. I really expected to see more of a difference running A/F from 12.5 to 13.1.

af ratio doesn't really change the HP in these cars too much running N/A. Timing is the key...

I'd be curious to see the power differences under the curve too.

Hey, if you're a gluten (sp?) for punishment I can lone you my Mac 1 3/4 LT's and matching DR Gax X pipe...just to see if that helps

FWIW the Mac headers are poor quality but they generally do make more power than the BBK's. The collectors on the BBK's are terrible, worse than stock or FRPP shorties.
