Can anyone tell me the steps necessary to set up the valve train for a set of stock E7 heads with stock pedestal mount rockers. I have set up an adjustable set with studs but never set up a set with pedestal mounts. I assume that it is much the same and there is some torque setting on the rocker nut. This is my first 5.0 engine but I am familair with the old 289/302's
Thanks

If you are using ALL stock components (stamped rockers, non worked heads, stock pushrods) just put each cylinder on the firing stroke(both valves closed) and torque each rocker arm to 25 ft lbs and use some loctite on the bolts, then do each cylinder going through the firing order and that's it. When you change to 1.7 rr's or have a head that's been shaved excessivly or had the valves sunk, then you have to check the contact patch beween the rocker arm tip and the top of the valve stem. You may need to use a shim kit or get different length pushrods. Failure to do so will result in rapid valve stem/guide wear. HTH
