instead of trying to strip my front cover and prep it for paint , I’m looking at the replacement covers. My current one is not factory so nothing will be lost there . Anyone try one? Wasn’t sure if they were worth it, or if I should find a clean original paint factory one.

Mine has chipping paint from a bad paint job so it’s gotta go

Lmr is 200 ish after discounts

just a standard aftermarket cover right? i got one circa 2006ish, fit seems ok (body shop put it on after a wreck) but looking at it close you can tell its aftermarket. trying to find a good pic of it, too many folders on my pc.....

ok, heres some older ones (2008?) dont mind the hood misalignment too much, ive adjusted it over the years. pass fender is also aftermarket (drivers is oem though).

My recent dabbling in the resto aftermarket parts selection has me thinking I'd rather invest a bit more time/money refurbishing an original oem part vs dealing with many of the repro stuff on the market these days

Is your front bumper damaged beyond the paint?

If not, I had a real good experience with a local media blaster on stripping mine. 50 bucks and it was down to the e-coat.

You can save a few bucks that way.

I’m amazed at how how it is to find a clean factory gt bumper. Found one and the guy wants $550. So at this point my options are either buy a used factory one and have it stripped, or aftermarket.

My current one is
Aftermarket and needs stripped, so to the chopping block it goes.
