Edelbrock Head Selection

I am planning a 347 build and need advice from Edelbrock users on head selection. On the Summit website is EDL-60259 the correct non-smog performer RPM head for a 347 application? If not please offer advice from your experience. It will be a semi-daily driver with a safe tune, not a race car so I don't need to squeeze every once out of it.

I run ported Eddy rpm heads with the small valves and they are excellent..however that's on my 306 so I'm limited on larger displacement experience. I can only say the quality is not a issue and the product is excellent, really only comes down to price and what if your after performance wise. I can imagine the AFR heads would produce somewhat more power (how much I can't say) but reputation speaks well for Eddy heads on pretty much every application they've been used on.

Thanks DMAN, my thinking is that AFR's with the spring upgrade are about $1,450 vs. $1,080 for rpm's at Summit and the money saved would be wisely spent on a custom cam. I havn't called Summit yet but it seems they list several part numbers for the rpm's and I want to be sure I order the correct heads.

Exactly what I did! the savings from buying the Eddy heads over the AFR's freed up enough cash to pay for my cam selection and what the builder charged to work the exhaust side of the heads a touch (he was VERY helpfull and reasonable). End results are excellent flowing heads and dyno numbers that convince me a swap to AFR heads would yeild little if any gain...the AFR's though an excellent head no doubt really only offered me a 300-400 price over run in my budget for what I wanted. I'm sure as I stated before the AFR's likely would shine brighter for HP numbers but for the regular old street drivers like myself you're not going to 'FEEL' the difference anywhere but the pocket IMO.

I'd use edelbrock victor jr's for your 347.

The afr 185's will EASILY outshine regular edelbrock performer rpm heads.

I think Vic. Jr's are too much for my goals, good low end torque and pull to ~5500.
