Well I just happened to visit the edelbrock website to see that they released the 4.6l 2v intake manifold. But typically you cant find a price and it will be a few months before we get real dyno results. I try and call edelbrock tomorrow but just letting you guys and gals know.:flag:

Still confused if this is a carb or fi manifold. I was looking at it the other day and some said carb, some said fi. The picture it has injector bosses and its in the shape of the upper plenum. I saw it and was impressed.

If its in the $300 range ill get one and "help" my stock plastic crossover PI crack, lol.

BurningRubber- Helping your manifold crack.... Good one..:rlaugh:

For $300 that would have to be the cheapest aftermarket manifold i have seen. All the others like the P51, Typhoon, Trickflow are all about $600-700 bucks but that would be a tight manifold for the price...

They have a fuel rail kit that is available on the edelbrock website so I'm wondering if it's required.

The manifold looks more of a reicard intake manifold with the short, straight runners. And we all know how much power that makes on a stock or mild setup.

2900RPM-7900RPM
You guys better have a built motor, heads and CAMS before you shell out for one of these.
Its a simular setup as on my 66...victor Jr intake. Car will nail 7500RPM without issue. Mine is rated 3000-8000RPM I believe.
Point is that these are HIGH RPM intakes, designed for topend HP. I wouldnt doubt a total loss below 5500RPMs. Note the super short (for mods) runners....yea, ill pass. Torque will suffer way too much for a street car.

Best suited for VERY high revving N/A GTs and high revving centri charged GTs.

I have a built Ford 400 (~375hp/400+tq, boat anchor my ass!! ) with a Wieand Stealth dual-plane manifold. It's considered to be a "good" street intake manifold from idle to ~5500rpm. Its runners are lucky to be half as long as the runners on a stock 4.6 intake. In fact, from my limited experience it looks as though the 4.6 has the longest intake runner length of any V8 I've seen.

Same thing with the 302 and the 289 (similar displacement to the 4.6); you buy any aftermarket intake and the runners will be nowhere near as long as the runners on a stock 4.6 plastic manifold and you can get good torque and power in a decent powerband. Yet you put an intake with "similar" design on a 4.6 and it's suddenly useless for street use. The powerband is just way too high.

Is the issue the valve shrouding, lack of displacement, port volume, or all of the above?

Am I missing something?

So, I wonder if this adapter would work with the manifold and allow you to use a cobra TB???

LINK!

The only thing that's bad about the manifold is the opening. It was designed for edelbrock's universal throttle body(which is over $400), and the opening is not shaped like a normal oval plenum. A plenum might bolt up.

The Sullivan might fit but that is already another $320 bucks on top of the manifold cost.

I've been looking at this intake as well. i have cracked 2 of the factory plastic ones. Couldnt I just make a spacer that will bolt to the intake as well as my stock elbow? Seems that wouldnt be that hard.

A guy down at my brothers shop got one installed(will have a pic up soon) used a after market plenum for the 4.6, built D.S.S block, and a procharger. the car started w/ 500rwhp@5200rpm. just a tune and that intake the car made 562rwhp! 62rwhp @6500rpm! My brother told that the intake is only good if you have some boost.
