i have got my hands on a 95gt 5.0 motor and trans for free!!! its from a friend of mind who is going w/ a new longblock and tremec so he says lets put it into my 84gt 350. but i'm not sure how to go about doing this.

i know i'll need a new intake that matches the efi heads but what about the distributor? also what problems will i come across with the trans? my t5 now is hurting for a rebuild and the one i'm getting shifts fine with a new clutch.. any advice please jump in i plan on doing this starting on sunday.. i'll try to take pics as we go along...:nice:

New carb intake for 302 (any will work), I believe you will need a new dist as well. Your t-5 and bell housing will bolt right up. There shouldn't be anything else that you need.

Do you have a motor in there now?

While you are at the electrical part, you'll need a Durspark or similar ignition system. The 85 Mustang GT 5 speed has a suitable Duraspark distributor with a steel gear compatible with the roller camshaft.

The transmission on a 95 has an input shaft that is about 3/4" longer that the earlier model T5's. It will only work with the 95 bellhousing unless you swap the input shaft.

hey thanx for the advice i will swapping motor and trans as a whole... the motor i have in there now squeak93 i think is a 302 out of a 85gt... as far as distributors goes i still have to change correct even if i change complete motors?? jrichker thanx you always come through!!!

wouldn't the distributor out of the 95 work?? the motor is in the car and running, we r going to pull it as is and install in the 84. i know i'm asking retarted questions but i'm still new to all of this..

The EFI distributor has no means to advance the ignition timing. The EFI ignition depends on the EFI sensors and computer to advance the spark. Rip out the TPS and MAP/Baro sensors and the computer will have no idea of the proper ignition timing for best performance. Running a fixed timing setting is only for test purposes or for a race track only car. Don't try it on the street: the results will not be nearly as good as a properly setup Durspark or equal. Crane makes a really nice distributor for non-EFI applications. . See http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?show=browseParts&lvl=4&prt=127 for more information.
