Electric Fan...and coolant reservoir. What've YOU got?

I want to ditch my shroud mainly for show, as I know the stocker cools really well as it is.

What are you guys running for electric fans, and what did you do about a coolant reservoir?

And what about those Canton, etc. billet reservoirs? Are those easily adaptable to a 5.0 motor? I know my "low coolant" light will be on all the time unless I figure a way to trick it off, but that's not important right now.

I use an sn95 electric fan. I rigged up 'homemade' brackets and I use the factory overflow in the stock location. Email me if you want, I have pics.

I use the one you can find at Autozone, Pepboys, Adv. Auto, ect. I have it mounted where the battery used to be.

I have scene the the washer resivour used for this purpose, the earlier foxbodies had a different setup similar to mine.

The low coolant light will go off if you unplug the sensor. My stock resivour is on the side of I-75 somewhere.

I dunno, I always thought the stock shroud looks better than anything else. Unfortunately I HAVE to part with mine because the stock fan is making this obnoxious RPM dependant whirring sound since I added my blower, and an electric fan is the only way I can fix it. I picked up a taurus fan but its not installed yet. And that Canton reservoir looks tite, you should get it. If you unplug the sensor the low light does not come on. That happens only on broken cars. There isnt a single thing broken on this car. I verified this because I ran around with no reservoir for a little bit last year after wrapping up my blower and radiator install. What electric fan are you going to buy?

getting ready to install griffin radiator, ramchargers dual fan and 3 inch x 16 inch polished reservoir. With some slight modification the ramchargers fan fits perfect on a 31x19 radiator. looks factory.

Those billet overflows don't hold much, and they are a lot of money. Plus I don't really have a spot to mount it. I have a Mark VIII fan with a overflow from an old Toyota truck, (don't ask what year/model because I have no idea.) it's a good sized bottle, and it does return the coolant. I stuck it inside my drivers side fender, and ziptied it to the fender rbace, so far it's held up just fine with no problems, and I don't have to worry about it

What electric fan are you going to buy?

I have no idea. That's why I made this thread to see what will be the best bang for my buck.

I know the Canton/etc. tanks don't hold much but you can't win 'em all, I guess.

So you can still use the overflow tank (reservoir tank) on a Griffin radiator?...

Yes if you have something to mount it to like the factory shroud. The ramchargers fan has two mounts on the side that is perfect for the stainless steel tank I ordered. Not sure what the factory tank holds but the one I got holds 2.5 pints and they make them larger if you need them. It is a return style just like the factory.

its an Afco 31x19 radiator and a ramchargers electric fan. I bought a polished stainless steel 2x15 resevior off of ebay for around $20 and it works great. I had to fab some brackets to mount it to the frame. You can almost see it in the second pic right by the power steering pump. Sorry for the crappy pic quality, camera sucks.

DOn't worry about the light. It won't be on. Just remove the sensor. Not all Mustangs got coolant lights (mine didn't) so FOrd made it a normally open switch so that the light would only trip when the switch closes. Just take it out and you are all set.

As for my setup, Sn95 fan with a summit $15 overflow.

Here ya go - there's not a better control system out there. I can't use their fan on mine, but I do use the controller on a dual 11" SPAL fully shrouded set up. Best controller I've seen.

dave, I am using the Black Magic elec fan and it cools very nicely. as for overflow I found a small overflow at autozone that i squeezed between the radiator and the frame rail.. see pics. when i built my buddies motor he bought the dual ramchargers fan and i would definently go with it... took a lil customizing to mount it but it looks and performs awesome. i think it is priced nicely too..
