As suggested earlier, drill and tap the port in the thermostat housing. That's what I did with my Flex-a-lite fan controller and it works perfectly. It always turns the fan on and off at exactly the temp I set it at.
My old black magic fan had a probe that went in the radiator and it never turned on correctly during the initial warm-up of the engine.
My buddy drilled and tapped into the tube that goes to the heater core from the intake. He tapped it on the top of the hex part that screws into the intake. Looks very nice almost like its factory.
