So my car has been running real hot in light traffic today it went up to 240 degrees and seems to run around 190 200/200 on open high way on a 75 degree day. Flushed out the radiator, all new hoses, replaced the already new tstat, and checked the electric fan. Now the water pump isn't a standard 5.0 it's actually a new Chevy water pump that can spin in either direction (so im told). Now I didn't install this pump so I'm pretty convinced this is the issue. I want to install an electric pump and wanted to here opinions on the mater. I'm looking at either a CSR or a Meziere, but I'm open for options. Also I don't have power steering, A/c, or smog so by eliminating the pump pulley I will only have the ALT and Crank. Is this a problem?

If you want heat or a defroster you need to use a Meziere. If you do not id use a meziere, Aerospace Components or CSR.

Not sure how a chevy pump fits...you got me there.

What fan setup is on the car? What shroud?

I can't figure out the Chevy water pump either. The guy that built the motor gave me a long winded reason that made zero sense. Would it be ok to just have the alt pulley and crank, I wasn't sure if the car would properly charge?

I'd like to see a picture of said "Chevy Water pump" on the car.....maybe a part number too? Sounds like he's either snowing you, or doesn't know what he's talking about?

If I were you, I'd just throw a stock Ford pump back on the engine and call it a day.

I mean really....is this a race car that you need to extract every ounce of power out of? What are your engine specifics? There are easier and cheaper ways to make power that that.

yea id like to see this chevy water pump set up....

but as rick said running straight crank to ALT isnt an issue is you use an aftermarket mount like the moroso low mount.

Here are 2 pics of the water pump. He said he installed the chevy one because it is a universal rotation and thats what he needed. From what I can tell the pump is spinning clockwise which correct me if Im wrong is the standard rotation?? I have spent the past 2 months correcting everything this jack @$$ has done, the pump doesn't seem to fit right it leaks a little and isnt cooling jack. I want to install the electric pump because I like the look, and thought just 2 pulleys would be a clean look. This isnt a horse power driven change. Im changing out the radiator and electric fan set up. I want to ditch the stock shroud and put a nicer over flow. I may just put a polished mechanical water pump in and call it day.

doesnt look like any pump ive seen for a chevy... id question the timing cover also at that point. id get everything new for a ford and start over.

Agreed I learned a valuable lesson with this car either build or have everything built yourself. Tried to cut corners and bought a motor where someone was cutting corners..

you can buy stuff used but a motor is something you should get from some one A: you know personaly or B: has a reputation for good work.

If you don't get a low mount the belt will hit the pump...the speeddoctor mount is a good unit as well, however I've never had an issue with the moroso mount I can confirm thee part number
