For the people who have put the engine / tranny combo together at once ever ran into the problem of getting the "nub" to fit on the driver side mount? I was playing with it all day and I just couldn't get that nub to fall into the K-member. It was if I had to lift the transmission higer than it would allow or push the engine back a 1/4 inch and I just couldn't do it. It was pretty frustrating. I believe the mounts are some sort of stock replacements from a local autostore. I'm thinking about tossing them and picking up a set of Energy Suspension Urethane ones. I'm looking at the picture at the following link:

Does anyone know if these have those nubs or not? If I ground down the nubs, does anyone think it will negatively effect any engine movements within the bay?

i would stay away from the urethane mounts. especially the tranny mount. the vibration is horrible. as for the mount dropping in. i had a hard time as well but eventually got it to drop in. the urethane mounts have those nubs also. i dont think its a good idea to grind them down.

just keep messing with it. I found it easier to get one side in and put the nut on it (loose) and then get the other one in. It just takes time.

I have done this twice and have no advice to give but... when you are at your wits end and a torque wrench is flying through the air at the neighbor's cat the mount will somehow, miraculously, pop into place.

Yeah, I think I'm going to pull it out and put the engine / tranny seperate. I think it would go on just fine like that.

I didn't change the tranny mount, but I did have to get new motor mounts when I did my engine swap. My stock ones were in BAD shape.

Pretty happy with them and they are quite a bit cheaper than the real things. But it seems you might have better luck with the tranny/engine separated. I have a heavy arse AODE, so I separated them when I installed mine.
