Engine noise????

Why do the SOHC motors have so much engine noise when you rev them in neutral? I replaced the belt on my 02 GT and then had my wife rev the motor afterwards and there seems to be alot of lifter noise or valve clatter. Whats the deal? I thought about going with Mobil 1 syn. but wouldnt that make the noise more prominent.

Once I get my prochamber on it wont matter because you wont be able to hear it anyway.

I dunno it could be a few different things I doubt running synthetic would quite them up at all. Hey at least yours doesn't whine all the time like mine does

I switched to Mobil1 and my engine did quiet down, it was only loud when the motor was cold.

My motor does have slight vavle tap when its warming up in cold weather.

mine taps, clicks, whines, and all sorts of things, as I've modded it, some of the sounds have quieted down or gone away, some have increased... Just part of owning a stang I'm thinking, the 67 made all sorts of noises, but that was the body and frame creaking
