Well i think i might need to replace or rebuild my 96,it is cheaper for me to buy a whole motor out of an truck or grand marques than to rebuild the one i have, i was wondering what long blocks i could use ,what is the compatability for the 4.6,what other model 4.6 donor cars can i use and what years can i use?

Do you just want to do an el-cheapo basic rebuild (rings, bearings) or do you want to build this thing to take a little bit of power (IE: Rods, Pistons, Crank, etc)?

If basic is what you're after, you're pretty much a tie between what it's going to cost you to rip this thing apart, buy/borrow the tools necessary and spring for the new parts or get yourself a used donor engine. I'd look around for a '99-up PI engine for your car to make a little power in the process if the engine swap route is what you're going for.

an engine swap is easier and quicker. it's also cheaper. no chance for some dumbo to screw up a tolerance and out your pocketbook.

swap low mileage donor. PI only

I will have soon a 96gt block with 109k miles, and 99heads already on the block with about 50,000 miles. I will sell it to you pretty cheap if you are into that.
