you’ll be glad you decided to go with the matrix style as opposed to the basic connector, especially with a convertible. it’s almost like have a second set of frame rails.

I am excited to get this part done, while I am doing this work I see some cracks in the torque box area. Is it advisable to clean and weld those back?

I have not done the reinforcements on the boxes but that may happen soon, I just dont want to remove the speaker box to get at the top side of the plate bolts.

Dude, you can drill a small hole at the end of the crack then zip 'em up but honestly, you prolly should go ahead and do them, if not you will be so busy enjoying the ride you will forget all about the reinforcement plates.

Wow that’s gonna be solid! I will probably do something like that next winter. I did do torque box reinforcements and subframe connectors already

Like Thief said. Drill small holes at the end of the cracks and weld them up.

Might as well do the torque bax reinforcements now. You won't be back under there until you tub it.

I would have been completely done with the passenger side subframes and bar system if I had not run out of welding wire.. I have all of them tacked into place but I will have to make a run tomorrow to get more wire to finish them up.

You can weld them. I don’t see any issues with that.

That's where I am going, same place I got my welder. Its flux core wire but gets the job done.

And done, I also flooded the frame rails with water until sand and debris stopped coming out of them. Alot of stuff came out took an hour to do both sides.
I ordered a quart of por15 and plan to basically pour it into the frame rails... or use something to try and spray it in as best I can for coverage.

use eastwoods frame coating. I used it on my car. It has a long tube with a tip that sprays in all direction. Stuff works great and seems to stick to anything.

eastwoods product comes in an areosol can with the tube. I'm sure you could make up somthing with a piece of brake line and some tubing

Thanks, I went ahead and ordered 3 cans of the black frame coating so i can really get all of them done. I am going to just leave the order for the por15, I may as well use that to paint the outside if the frame rails and welds so its really well protected. I also have some other projects [tractor] that i can use this on.

Ya it'll get used!! One thing i do when i open por is pour it in a mason jar otherwise if you put the lid on the can it seems like i can never get it off again. when you get the spray stuff stretch out the tube in the sun so it straightens out otherwise it curls up. you could also tape it to a coat hanger etc if needed.

I think I may have to drill a hole out in the frame rail to get the wand up in there like i need too. unless there is an opening that will work that I do not see?

I drilled some 1/4" holes. they aren't really noticeable once your done. put them on the bottom side where possible
