I got a call today from capitol one credit card, they suspected fraud on my account, AND THEY WERE right, I haven't used the card in months but some one tried using it on paypal, for $220, and the charge didn't go thought, but they did get a $3.59 charge throught.. the card is now cancelled soo we will see what happens

I got hit with Identity Theft in February of last year. It sucked rocks and I'm STILL dealing with the aftermath now. One of the stores is contesting my ID theft claim, so I now have to prove somehow that I didn't buy the $8000 laptop

I ask because there was a scam going on where they would call you and claim to be your c/c company. They would say that there's a transaction on your card that appears to be fraud and that they needed to verify that you had the card on you so they would ask for those 3 digits in the back of the card. They'd tell you that they were going to cancel the card and not to worry about it. Sounds like what you are describing.

Call your c/c company yourself and check to see what's going on, just as a follow up. I worked at a couple of banks, one of them being Cap. 1 and I'm 'familiar' with those types of scams.
