I have a 1998 GT and I am doing exhaust this summer. (see sig for mods).

I was planning on going with one of the following:
- Borla (steeda)
- SLP Loudmouth
- Magnaflow Magnapacks

I currently have Flowmaster, and they are OK. They rattle at about 2k sometimes and i just got bored with them. So i want to change them and get better exhaust tips too. I have the stock 2.5" (??) i want the 3.5" So what are your recommendations?

Where is the best place to get Borla's? I have not found many sites selling 1998 GT Borla exhaust.

if you want more of a stock type sound but louder, get the Magnaflow or Borla. if you want more of the glasspack sound get the Magnapacks or SLP. personally i like the more traditional stock sound. i picked Magnaflow over Borla because of price. all the set ups you listed are high quality.

I think you have to really pick the one you like the best. I have borla and I love it but my bought it for me for xmas. If I was buying today I would run magnaflow with o/r pipe or borla stinger with o/rpipe. I do not know if they make the stinger for 98's though.

the steada/normal borla kit has raised up in price to much. maganflow just raised thier prices so now it is a tradeoff. I don't know if you will find magnaflow for $369 anymore.

I do not like the loudmouth or magnapacks with o/r pipe as much. ther are nice exhasuts just not "my" taste. they are just too much IMO. I like my car to have an aggesive tone but not just be "loud"

if you are keeping cats you have to kind of make a judgement call becasue they do calm things down.

I've got the borla cat-back with a prochamber. It is the best exhaust I've heard. The cat-back has been on for almost 4 years and it still looks great. I work right next to the ocean and everything oxidizes really fast, I think that the car will be rusted away before the exhaust does (the prochamber is starting to go though). It was definitely worth the extra $$$.

To shop around, look on google for "Borla 14787"

Don't buy anything from Steeda, they jack up the prices way too much.

I would keep what you have and try some different mufflers. The 3.5" tips from Magnaflow would look like fart cannnons on your car. Borla is definately great quality, but expensive too. Replacing your Flows is the better way to go in your case. That way if you get "bored" with your next set up you didn't spend as much as you would buying a complete c/b which you already have.

Well i'm not getting headers just yet. And i have a MAC H-Pipe with Cats. Since i live in jersey i won't be able to have an O/R pipe. I want an agressive sound for my car, i dont really care about unique, traditional mustang sound is fine. My car sounds good now, with the mac and flowmaster. But i wish it was a bit louder. But i hear magnapacks are a lot louder, but sound completely different. I'll have to look into that.

People with Borla also said that at idle it is very quiet, and doesn't get aggressive until you go WOT. Which is not really what i want.

I was thinkinng i'd go SLP because they have "resonators" not mufflers and i hear they are loud and aggressive...but at the same time someone told me that SLP is stock on camaros, and the camaro guys recommend ripping them off right away because they are very restrictive...

What do you guys think about that? What is the least restrictive and best sounding? I want it to sound good, but i dont want to lose HP doing so.
