im planning on probably this summer to rip some explorerheads off an explorer and throw em on my shortblock......i got a few questions tho.....

1 - i hear that you have to use different headers with them.....if so which ones would be recommended......also does the explorer come with manifolds or tubular headers like the stang

2 - what shouold be upgraded in the heads to improve them....

3 - with the mods in the sig what hp am i lookin at currently...approx.......and with the new explorer heads, intake, and either a bcam or ecam what kind of gains am i looking at......

1. Either buy shorty heads specifically for the gtp head aka mac shorty p's (which I have heard are crap and not worth the $$) or the mac long tubes they say those work and clear the spark plugs with no problems. Also the explorer intake is identical to the cobra/gt40 manny.

2. Replace the valve springs to match which ever cam you decide to go with. Gears should be on your to do list some 3.73 should work just fine. If you want you can also send the heads to a machine shop and have them shave the head a little maybe 20 or 30 thousands off for some added compression.

current maybe 205rwhp/270tq (stock we only put down 190ishrwhp/265ish) and there is not much done as far as power mods that you have. After the head swap I would guess 225ish/285ish (head only swap) it's really hard to say.

that might be your best bet, although explorer heads can be had for little of nothing, some gears would wake your car up, and pullies and intake would really help too.

Figure out what your LONG TERM plans are for the car. Then start putting things together it's cheaper that way. I would do all that normal bolt on's I.E pulleys, intake, LT headers, mid-pipe, and gears. I would not recomend a cam with stock heads especially the ford letter cams our computers really don't like them. Those who do install them end up with idlling ploblems like surging, shutting off at every stop light/sign (Not all but "most" get the idlling problems). Cams like the steeda #19, crane 2031, and the crower 15511 are better and more computer friendly the the ford letter cams.
