I have a 2002 mustang v6 auto convert, im investing in some exterior and interior accessories for added looks and style. With a tight budget im not sure what the best move is in terms of which area to spruce up and style.

My first purchase that I have already made and awaiting arrival is of course a mach 1 chin spoiler w/hardware. My second was a new oem 3rd brake light since the one on my car has a hidious scratch/chip in it. The third was a new oem instrument cluster bezel lens- since the one in the car now has millions of scratches and oxidation marks everywhere- not entirely noticeable at night time, but on a beautiful sunny day it looks like an eye sore.

So now here comes my current delma which I am looking for some advice or suggestions. I am debating on getting a billet gas door for the car? They arent cheap and finding one under 75.00 is near impossible, unless you have some good connections. I have heard and read so many mix reviews/feelings on billet gas doors being awesome looking and stylish. but also hearing that they are tacky and in poor tastes? Can anyone shead their feelings??

I am also debating headlight covers, to add a meaner look to the front end. I am also looking into the mustle grille delete kits because the honeycomb grilles just dont seem to look as mean and clean as the mach 1 grille designs or of course any mustangs made between 94 - 98.

Mach 1 chin spoiler :nice: i just bought my 04 gt and it came with one, good thing...cause if it didnt have it it would have gotten one. mine didnt come with the grill delete, but i am getting one from my G//F for christmas. i also despise the honeycomb grill in the 99-04's

personally i dont like the billet gas doors. i think they look tacky except on a highland green mustang. as for the headlight / taillight covers ...dont do it. the plastic covers look bulky and tacky, and if you put them on your car you might as well get a mullet wig and a camaro. if you want to i recommend headlight tint, its just a film that covers the lights and doesnt block out nearly as much of the light and look better as its not a part that protrudes from the vehicle.

as far as interior parts go i think less is more. the parts that you add so that when someone looks in your car they know something that is different but just cant quite put their finger on it. mach 1 pedals, billet knobs...when i put my stereo in my last stang i mounted aftermarket tweeters in the non-mach 460 sail panels....subtle but cool.

i dont know how old you are but the idea to remember is dont put in what looks like a kid in high school might slap on cause they found it at walmart.

edit: this is an example of headlight tint
and this is an example of tail light tint

My personal taste I do NOT like the billet gas door. :notnice: It adds "bling" where "bling" is not needed and it takes away from the clean lines on the mustang body. I personally think its $$ that could be spent somewhere else.

As for headlights - I would personally get different headlights instead of just covers. Be careful because in some states the tinted headlights or tinted headlight covers are illegal. They do sell Halo Headlights (like the BMW) for the 2002 stangs. I have some in my 98 that have black plastic inside but a clear cover (see the avatar pic of my car).

The grille delete IS a good investment. It is a common thing to do and it gives a cleaner look to the front end. :nice:

Other suggestions for later on when you have the $$$:
1. Paint the interior bezels around the radio, shifter, and gauge cluster and some of the other plastic removable pieces the same color as your car OR a contrasting color.
2. Add bumper inserts to the MUSTANG in the rear bumper.

Mustang50v8 (see above post) is my B/F and we have done all the exterior and interior modifications to our stangs ourselves. Feel free to talk to either one of us for more advice on what we have done.

GOOD LUCK!

+1 on the POLISHED inserts if its a Black car, that was the first thing I did to mine and it definitely sets it off.

I was thinking of the Billet gas door, but kinda tor on it myself, I have also seen one in black instead of the polished appearance, it would be more subtle(again on a black car) and not add too much bling...

As far as headlights are concerned, go to the 94-95 5.0 forum and check out the HID conversion a guy over there is doing. It's a real HID conversion and not those fake kits that only consist of new bulbs. Looks nice. Decent amount of fab work.

+1 - Mustang50v8 did the full HID conversion to the 94 stang he JUST had to get rid of and it gave it a really nice look!!
