F%$k Chip Out of New Rims

I just bought my new chrome cobra R rims this winter and tonight I cut a curb too short thinking it was wider and I took a small chip out of the edge of the rim. To be honest I didn't even know I hit the rim except my friend noticed and pointed it out to me. I guess accidents happen but I just got them this year, so I am kind of pissed at myself.

I know the rim is not damaged but it does not look that good. Besides getting a whole new rim is there anything I can do to get it repaired? It would be nice if there was someone in Halifax that could do it but I would be willing to sent it away to someone that does good work.

Not sure if you can repair chrome...Polished would be fairly easy to repair.

I know how you feel...I messed up 2 of my chrome 03 Cobra's last summer...sucks..

I know replating chrome costs a fortune so it might be just as easy to get a new rim. It just seems like such a small chip to bother getting a whole new rim.

Dont really know..there used to be some company in burnside that did wheel repair , but for the life of me, i cant remember the name.

Can i ask, where did you buy them from?

not sure if there is such thing or not but like i said tonight maybe they sell chrome touch up stuff? like touch up paint but just a smalllllll size of it to touch it up, all you would need is a couple tiny dabs.

I got them from OE Wheel Distributors in Flordia, good deal by the way I would recomend them to anyone. The rim would just need some light sanding and some touch up on the chrome and that is it, The rim is not even bent, there is just a small chip out of it.

I will take a look for that place in burnside.

Cool..what was the shipping like? Brokerage and such? Or did you go down to get them?

my stock pony rims are so chipped lol you dont want even to see it.

I feel your pain. I curbed one of my FMS Chrome Cobra 2K's 4 days after I installed them with a similar maneuver back in May.

When I looked at having them repaired I couldn't find a wheel repair place that could do anything about replating the chrome. It seems that all they can do are polished or painted wheels. Over time the damage became less noticable and I'm glad I didn't spend $500 on a replacement wheel.

In the end if you're going to drive it you're going to pick up some road rash. The alternative is to have a trailer queen.

Thanks for the replies. I will try thoes two places. I guess road rash is part of the game just like chips and dings but it does bother me. I was not so bad on the old turbine rims but I just hate having chrome rims with a chip out of them.

The shipping and brokerage was not great but when you factored in the wheel and tire combo it still worked out cheaper then any Canadian companies. Most Canadian companies were asking 500 bucks a rim that did not include tires or balancing. OE wheels mounted the tire balanced them, which was nice. I used to think anyone can mount a tire until my parents bought some new rims for thier 66 stang and had them shipped up but then some idiot at crappy tire could not figure out how to mount the tire without scratching the rim and wrecked the edges of it. They did eventually pay for an entire new rim but it was a pain in the ass. I forget exactly what it was but it would have been nice to slip down and get them put on in the states .

The duty is just the 7% tax on the Canadian value of goods but I forget what UPS charges for brokerage fee's. If you drive down there are no fee's just the 7% tax. Next big load will be from Mustangs Unlimited. Might slip down there after the FFW next year and have some parts ready for pick up. I think you can price it out online through UPS.

Cool, thanks! I want some 03 Cobra wheels for mine! Wont get them anytime soon, but when i do, those will be the rims of choice!
