Preface: There are two threads that I found out of 200, which were relevant but they were inconclusive.

I have a 94GT with just a regular tape deck. My window sticker states my car does not have premium sound let alone the mach 460 stereo. It seems everyone dislikes the slave cd add-on. I was hoping there was another option besides the slave add-on or the in dash 6 disk from the newer mustangs. I am a big fan of the way the stock radio matches the dash. I found this item which has a different plug layout than my stock radio, but was optimistic that it would work.

I wouldn't Your paying 1/2 to 3/4 the cost of a high quality aftermarket cd player and wasting dash space. Not to mention the wiring is gonna be more difficult than just using a plug-in adapter on a new radio. I would just replace the head unit. The sound quality will be better, even with the stock speakers.

I think you are missing the point, I do not care if it was twice the price of an aftermarket head unit and works half as well. I just am not keen on the way aftermarket cd players look.

I guess a better way to phrase my question is what Ford CD players should I look into that are compatible with my non premium sound car and match the factory dash?
