I'm not up to speed on what factory MAF's are out there that people use on their Mustangs since my 5.0 is still speed density.

However, the other day I noticed something. I installed a BBK CAI a long while back, and bought a MAF version since i would eventually convert. I installed a TINY stock 55mm MAF in place, but not hooked up at all. I'm prob hurting power a bit with a stock MAF. I never even thought about it since my car is still Speed Density.

WHat are my options short of going aftermarket? I really don't want to drop $200+ on a MAF that isn't even going to be hooked up. I could tyr to rig up a pipe or a couping or maybe machine something out of AL, but i was wondering if there are any factory MAF's from other ford's that are huge and i can put in place - doesn't even need to work.

Gonna go poke around the boneyard in a few days. Would be better if i found something i could make work with 19's as well for when i eventually convert---prob next summer

If you aren't going to hook it up, how about a lightning 90mm? They're cheap, and it would be easy to get a chip/program a tweecer for it. A 94-95 mustang is 70mm(I think) and will work with the factory 19's without a chip.

But the 94-95 GT MAF is flanged is it not? I'll need an adapter I assume?

I guess i'd ideally like to get it functional without needing to get a tune.

My BBK *heatsink* CAI is rusted to hell anyway. I need to explore my options on new induction anyway.

I'm thinking 70MM TB, and some sort of fendwell CAI with a large MAF. That way I can convert to Mass air and do my GT-40P's and TFS-1 next summer and be good to go.

If i had my stock airbox and SD tube i'd reinstall it...but stupid me tossed it

The sticky on MAFs has the info and options with adapting a 94-95 unit. You'll run out of injector (assuming 19's or 24's since you don't tune) before meter.

Here's that sticky. Please note: It contains a list of the only Ford MAFs that are compatable with the Mustang A9 computer. There are no other Ford MAFs that are a match (without a compter tune) regardless of what you hear.

Thanks guys, I now have a winter project.

I might as well track down an A9P and do the MAF-conversion anyway now.

Mike I'm running the 94-95 GT MAF and I am using an adapter. It gives a nice clean look, here is the adapter I got..very good company to deal with also.

Ford MAF Adapters - Air Filters - Kurtz Kustomz Motorsports, Inc. KKM

I have some pics of the flange installed if you want to see wha tit looks like installed.

Well, i picked up a 94 GT MAF already. Had a friend who upgraded give me one.

Now i just need the adapter, but kinda wondering if there is any sort of fenderwell filter kit that is plastic and bolts to the flange?? Then i just need the tube from the MAF to the throttle body?

Mike, for what it's worth, I have a complete stock air box assembly and tube from my '91 that I'll let go for dirt cheap. I know you like the stock look, so just an option to consider. It's in great shape, it had 46k miles on it when removed. Let me know if you want it.

I really want to go with some sort of fenderwell cone air filter though. Just haven't debated what I want to do. But i don't think i'll be going with stock stuff here. Gonna shop around and think about it over the winter. Thanks anyway.
