OK, so what would a reasonable price be? Given the cost of the shaker hood kits available, I'd think $399 or so would certainly be appealing . . . no?

I would like to find some way to make the scoop functional. I would be willing to pay a couple hundred dollars for a kit. I really get tired of having to deal with the water draining on my black hood.

KarKraft use to sell that exact kit. There website doesn't show it anymore, but instead, they are pushing their Shaker Scoop (ala Mach 1).

You might want to check with KarKraft to see if they still have any of those kits still lying around.

I took the honeycomb off and drilled holes in it then I cut open the hood where the V6 insert is on mine that portion was fiberglass so it was pretty easy cut it with a dremel.

I then made sure to reseal the scoop with liquid weatherstripping so I don't have the problem with water marks on the hood. Now if I could just do something about the rear bumper and rear quarters from the C pillars.

Fake hoodscoops would be qualified as "rice" if they were on a Honda.. But if they're on a Mustang, it's not rice! Its an appearance option..

I like the looks of the hood, but also not a fan of it being non-fuctional. I'm surprised more newer GT owners have'nt tried to make their scoops functional rather than change the hood or go with the shaker. I'm not sure on the clearance between the intake and the hood, but would it be possible to mount a ram air box on top of the intake? It seems like it would not be too difficult. Cut a hole under scoop, run ducting from hole to air filter box, and remove the plastic grille in the scoop or drill holes. If I had one I'd be tempted to try it.

Good stuff! After looking at all that has been built, I can't help but think that it might be as simple as using a BIG K&N square air filter like what fits in the 5.0 litre box stock (or larger). Then, fabricate an aluminum box to house it in with an intake funnelled into the inside of the of the stock hood scoop -- after you opened the scoop and cut a hole in the hood. Then, plumb all this to the MAF and finally into the plenum.

Anybody attempted anything like this?

Make sure you use some sort of water filtration/blockage if your build an actual working ram air. I think just porting the engine bay would have a positive effect.

I've been in the research of a nice hood for over a year before making my choice. Scoop, vs Ram air, vs ...
I loved the s281E hood look but it's not for sale. I went for the 03 cobra hood, it's actually a nice looking hood, cheap enough, and has functional reverse vents and agressive look!

Yeah, I like the look of the hood scoop, but that honeycomb is pretty much crap.

Too bad there isnt a flat black insert like the grill delete. Those inserts from CCmustang dont look bad, but i dont wanna accentuate the non-functional hood scoop.
