FedEx > UPS

When Kenne Bell sent me my SC they used FedEx and I HAD to be there for delivery. If it went three times and no sig from me it would go back to KB. They would not leave it with a neighbor. They would not let me pick it up (unless shipper "KB" says so). .
wow, thats a new one. both KB's I have gotten fedex has left them with no sig. anything I get from UPS requires a sig or they don't leave it.

the whole signature required thing is dependant upon the SHIPPER. FedEx or UPS has no say over it. If they leave a package that requires a signature, you can take it when you get home, say you never received it, and they will be forced to pay the declared value, and the courrier will probably lose his job.

not just one, but two KBs folks

Helty, working for GE I get $350 every two weeks taken out in taxes, and I have no benefits. total bs
the first was the 1.7 on my GT (RIP) years ago. I was a guinea pig for that kit along with a few others on this site. The second is the 2.2 that now lives on my Cobra....:D

ouch :( thats surprising, GE doesnt offer anything?

im not gonna act like i have the best employer and benefits, but for a young buck going through school, this works out pretty good. 30hrs/week, inexpensive benefits, and tuition reimbursement, I cant complain.

The benefits were HUGE for me, bc my benefits from the military expired back in Janruary. I had zero coverage for a few months, and got real sick one night, it was scary. but Im good to go now. :)

Not bad at all. For a single (not married) shmuck like myself, its cheap. I barely notice it taken out of my paycheck. :nice:
Helty check into the other benefits. I have my car insurance thru them, it gets taken out of my check every week, and it's cheaper than anywhere else I've called. Also, you get a discount on new cars, places like TGIFridays, etc.

guinea pig huh? that doesnt sound like such a bad deal lol. Does that imply that KB sent it to you free of charge in exchange for you testing it? Hey man btw, i'm from massachusetts (im temporarilly relocated to ohio though), I'd like to see your car sometime. KB cobra = :hail2: And you can marvel over how slow my GT is

Helty, I'm only 21 and I'm doing a 6 month internship with GE, so thats probably why I don't get benefits. I think I need to be here for a year - so right now all my money is going to the bastids who would rather sit with their hands out than get off their asses and find a damn job. This had better be the largest tax return of my life or I will be thoroughly pisst. Oh hey, Helty you were in the military? This probably doesn't mean much coming from someone on an internet forum, but thank you. Military personel do a job that I could never do and I have nothing but respect for them :flag: Lets go find reverend phelps and have a field day beating the crap out of all the followers

I definitely like Fed-Ex better. Cheaper rates and the tracking system actually tracks. Also it seems the delivery times are a tad faster w/ Fed-Ex. On several occassions they have beaten their estimates by 1-2 days. With UPS, if they tell you 5 days....it's gonna be 5 days.

And yes, I use Ground services for the majority of my shipments. But when the company is paying we always use the Express and it's rock solid.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. The UPS guy on SEVERAL occassions has rang the door bell dropped the box and ran. A few times he's never even rang the door bell and dropped the package. Torques you off when you are home working and expecting a package.

Fed-Ex has my business....end of story. Unfortunately I still have to deal with UPS on occassion. :(

yes, I was. and yes, it does mean something, thank you. My best friends (who I met in the service) twin brother was recently killed in Afghanistan, unfortunately. Not that i didnt appreciate it before, but I have a new found appreciation when people say thank you for serving. :flag:

yeah my instructor for courrier school was telling us about all the perks we get. Like 10% off Dell computers, discounts with certain airlines and a bunch of other stuff that I'll definitely use. I'll have to look into the car insurance. Is it actually through FedEx?

Well you get it thru Fedex, but they aren't the insurer, it's just a group discount thing, you know, superior drivers and all :rlaugh: . The insurance company is Metlife, but on top of the Fedex discount, you get a discount if you have it deducted from your paycheck, and it's actually nicer that way, instead of one or two big bills a year, it's a little out each week.

got ya ;) I have to look into that. Not that my insurance rate is bad, but if I can save money, then hell yeah :nice:

thanks man :nice:

do you happen to know if our shipping discount applies to ground and express? or is it just the branch we work for?

I'm not sure how it works in the states but here UPS can't give the package to some stranger unless you specify it in the little ticket they give you the first time they pass and stick it in the front door the next day.
Your right....they just won't let anybody sign for it. Instead, if you're not home, they'll leave in on your front steps or wedged behind the screen door for any random person to steal.

UPS sucks balls!!! Their service is poor, their brokerage fee's are high, they take responsibility for absolutely nothing, then leave it in the buyers hands to straiten out when something does go wrong and on top of that, their rates are usually the highest.

I hate the fact that so many companies force you to ship with them. I'll take Canada Post or USPS any day of the week. I don't mind Fed Ex either, but I don't have a lot of experience with them, since very few Ebay companies use them.

you just summed up just about everything I feel when someone says "UPS." Just yesterday I shipped 4 CDs (mind you, only 1 had a case) via UPS ground, and it cost my $10.15. Yes this was from Ohio to Mass, thats like 1 day at most. I wish the post office was open later, or that I had a fedex location near me. :notnice:

Ouch, that is really expensive. I just shipped out some stuff in a box measuring 19"x12"x10" with a weight of 5lbs via Fed-Ex Ground for around $7.40, and that *included* an extra $1.50 or so for "residential delivery" instead of commercial delivery. Also included was a fuel surcharge.

you can call 1-800-gofedex and they will pick up the package at your house, unfortunately, they charge $4. extra for that. You can also get a list of drop-box locations from that number, or take fedex packages to Kinko's, as fedex owns Kinko's. :)
