My hood was pretty close. Need to add a little up front. Any ideas, I only need about 1/2-1/4 inch just to make it line up with the hood light buckets. Can I use body filler (rage)?

I don't know if there are many fiberglass guys here and I'm not one either but I recently bought a glass hood too (not at all happy with it and I haven't even started to fit it) . My two bits on this is, as far as I know there's no problem adding filler to a glass hood BUT I would never add 1/2" of filler to anything.

Bondo on fiberglass decklid to widen a little? - Vintage Mustang Forums

trying the 3m 8101, same as the 8115 but more for DIY, two tubes to mix by hand rather than in the gun. Hopefully it works, seems to be good so far.

Don't add just filler, you'll be sorry quite soon. Instead, sand through the gel-coat and add strips of glass mat and resin. It's simple and quick and will be as strong as the hood itself. Once you get it close, then use short-strand filler ("kitty hair") and finally a good polyesther filler, then prime and block. I not only did all the Shelby stuff on my car (yes, it sucked to start with) but do quite a bit of 'glass work on my brother's race car and can tell you that the less filler the better off you'll be.

Zookepers exactly right.... it's easy to do, but do it in two parts.... prep with 80 grit on the bottom side and lay matting (either flexible or firm) soaked with resin, let it sit until it hardens, rough the shape out, the prep the top side and laminate the second "half" of the repair.... then you can shape the corner to match the contour of your headlight bucket. Once you've got the rough shape, you can use the short strand fiberglass filler to finalize the shape, and finally, polyester filler ( AKA-Bondo) will blend the contour into the rest of the hood.

Using cardboard wrapped in wax paper you can make a temporary mold or support that will allow you to shape and build the edge without it sticking. Be sure to sand any surface that comes in contact with the wax paper after words so you dont have any contamination issues with your primer.

Make sure that oyu prep the existing fiberglass with an aggressive tooth (80 or 40 grit) to give the new repair something to grab on to... this is probably the most important step.

Dont just build it up with filler... it will become brittle and right on the edge you'lre almost guaranteeing a repair that will break your heart.

Hope this helps!

KT.
