Hey guys, finally nailed 12's tonight. Seems my car wanted to skip 12.9's and go right to 12.8's. ;) I was stuck @ 13.00X's for about 2 weeks due to weather.

This took place tonight during the Mustang Challenge. I ended up winning my firist trophy for Best R/T with a .000 :D :D :D :D

(Keep in mind, the 60' timer on the left lane was out so use your imagination.)

1st Round run, I decided to focus on the tree with the intent on advancing. :)

R/T: .000
60':
330: 5.294
1/8: 8.329
MPH:
1000: 10.741
1/4: 12.876
MPH: 106.04

Test & Tune run, last of the night. I wasn't aware I'd be single running. A Magnum decided he didn't feel like getting his ass kicked by a slow Mustang so he never pulled up to the line ;)

R/T: 1.120
60':
330: 5.303
1/8: 8.235
MPH: 84.41
1000: 10.765
1/4: 12.902
MPH: 106.04

This was the 3rd Round run. Awesome run. Was a blast :) My opponent ended up getting the win light and advancing.

R/T: .220
60':
330: 5.330
1/8: 8.270
MPH: 84.26
1000: 10.805
1/4: 12.941
MPH: 106.04

Images :D

Those of you running 12's have prompted me to start modding more! It's 12's or bust now. The wife has ruled out spending for a supercharger, so I just ordered the JLT CAI that most of you seem to have really good success with, and then it'll be time for headers and x-pipe. Anticubicle, it would be interesting to see your 60' times - too bad they weren't available for your 12 second timeslips. I'm guessing 1.75 to 1.85???

Please dont waste your $$$ on headers man. There are several S197's rolling around my area who brag "I have intake, headers bla bla bla" then they're only putting down 290 or less, running mid-low 13's. Invest in some tires b4 you blow the $$$ on headers.

BTW, my 60's before the Steeda Sport Springs were all high 1.7's on MT ET Streets. I ran in the right lane twice last night and got a few 1.8's (spun off the line). I wanted to stay in the right lane to get my 60' times but I was hooking 100x better in the left.

I bought a pair of Saleen 17x9" wheels a few months ago, and mounted fresh BFG 275/40/17 drag radials. Made it to the local drag strip for two events with the drag radials. Ran a best 60' of 1.833 and every run with the d/r's has been between 1.833 and 1.899. Very consistent launches with d/r's, and an absolute must for any Mustang GT at the track. 330' times have been in the 5.40's and the 1/8 mile times have been in the 8.40's at about 82 mph. 1/4 mile times are only in the 13.30's (best of 13.28 at 102.92). So, a little more air in and out of the car makes sense. I'll try out the JLT CAI first to see how it improves the ET's. If I still can't get into the 12's, then it's likely going to be shorty headers and a high flow catted x-pipe.

My short times tell me that my car should run high 12's, but after the 1/8 mile stripe, it's like I'm not pulling as hard. I think some of it is the super loose converter (3800-4000 rpm) that isn't locking up until well past the 1000' mark. That's probably costing me a couple mph through the traps and a little bit of ET, as well. With more airflow, and a retune to lock up the converter sooner in 4th gear, I think I could be consistently in the high 12's.

congrats on the run, looks like a lot of fun.... can't wait till mine will run that fast....

Always feels great to win, doesn't it? Especially when you beat a faster car that can't control the power:D

The funny part is, I raced against my good friend Carlos who is also my Mechanic!!! :rlaugh: His Cobra is sick, he ran all-motor that run but earlier in the night he did an 11.2 on Spray. :hail2:

If you are going to add headers and stay N/A or add a SC later, do not waste money on shorties, get long tubes. American Racing Headers has probably the best Long tube header for these cars followed by Kooks. If I stay N/A, I will likely add the ARH longtubes but I have a Turbo itch...
