before primer use 180 grit sand paper or you will see little swirl marks in the primer which suck to sand out. then i assume you are using filler primer so brick it with 600 then paint with no sanding if you go primer base then clear. Then 1000 grit on the clear then 2000 some guys even use 3000

I do have a question though Can I prime the bondo after its been sanded w/ 80 grit, or do I need to smooth it out w/ a finer grit first?

No, primer on 80 grit. Yes, sand it with 180 grit before primer. Block the primer with 400 grit.

Thanks guys, I used 180 on the nose before primer, But I remember some body guy in my past just going straight to primer from 80 grit. Since I still have a couple of high/lows that require one more swipe, I just want to make sure after this last smear of bondo on the finished quarter that I don't go too far w/ the 80 before I switch to 180.

I've had a weird work schedule the last few weeks, so my StangNet use has been sporadic.

I think I worked with that guy. his nickname was "Charlie the butcher". But shops in Texas don't require body men to finish sand or primer anything.

On a side note, are you okay in Alabama after the Tornado?

Yeah, It missed this part of the city by about 15 miles. But the wind on that morning from a "preview storm" blew about 20 big-assed trees down all over my neighborhood.
( I have to admit, including the immediate concern for me and my family, I was thinking how pissed I'd be if something happened to that car in the basement)

Weather reported on a new phenomenon showing up on Radar, And it was weird to see,.. The debris that the tornado was carrying was showing up as a purple blotch after it hit Tuscaloosa. I have friends that have some of that debris in their yards, and they are 60 miles away from Tuscaloosa!

Weatherman said it was possible for some stuff to show up over 100 miles or more away. Also said that most tornado's touch down and live for about 15-30 minutes after that. I think this thing touched down, grew to 1.5 miles wide, mustered up 270 mph winds, and stayed on the ground for 3.5 hours. There were over 150 tornado's reported on the ground from that storm that day alone.

Tuscaloosa looks like an atom bomb was dropped there, there are neighborhoods here that are trashed, Cullman is only a little better than that. Going to your "safe place" in the basement still got you killed. (along w/ about 200 others in Alabama alone).

Whether or not you believe in the climate change thing, It would be to late to wonder "what if" If your house was in the path of that thing.

I wonder why he don't write no more??

(wow, I had to go back 4 pages just to find this thread, talk about movin' on...)

For the few that care, wondering about the progress on the car I have been plodding away on the body work.

In between that, I have been in Antartica, aka The classic mustang forum.
I Thought that since the car shared 68 bodyparts they might find it interesting........Uhhhh wrong O!

MAN! it's one thing for some fox guy to not like what you're doing while you post progress on a fox forum, but take a fox like this one down to the classic forum and start a progress thread down there and you get.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................."You aint from around these parts are you boy?":nutkick:

I haven't had that sort of cold shoulder treatment since the last time I hit on a nun.

Well it might not have been that bad, but it sure felt like it.
100 views before anybody made a single comment.
Anyways, positive stuff did come out of the experience, people finally started to warm up to the thing.
One guy said it reminded him of a pit bull. Another guy said it looked kinda like the California Special's Chubby, Bad-Assed little brother.

I liked the reference so much I decided to nick name the car after the very first neighborhood bully I ever encountered.
It was in first Grade. The Guys name was Chucky Fuller. Now that's a name that you just don't forget, even after 47 years. Ole bad assed Chucky had only 4 toes on one foot, he lost the 5th in the spokes of a bike. He was a little bad ass. Yeah.....4 toed, Monkey Fightin,' Chucky Monday to Friday, Fuller!

That about catches you up, except that I had my painter over to survey the car so far, and he told me to go ahead and prep the rest of the body for paint. So that's what I've been doin' today.
I've been procrastinating pulling the trim off and gutting the interior to facilitate that, but it had to happen sooner or later.

Now that the door panels are off, figured I show you what was involved to get the door handle relocated to accomodate the Pony door panel insert.

So, all of the trim is off, and I got the back seat and quarter glass partitioned off to try and keep the damn dust out of the interior

Like my solution to the complete lack of support for the package tray courtesy of the previous owner?

I got the majority of the front and rear end done, now all I gotta do is sand..............

While I can relate to not getting a very warm reception on a progress thread, I’ve got to say it once again. This is an awesome build! I can’t wait to see it painted. There is a local mustang club here called Columbus City Stangs. I’m sure if you ever brought it to one of their cruises, you would blow their minds with the creativity & outside the box thinking you have put into that thing. Keep the pics coming!

Yeah, the painter want's to paint it torch red, ( or Guards red if you prefer the Porsche version to the GM color chip) I like the color regardless of the name.

Red w/ a Gold mach1 reflective stripe will be the color. (I want to make that my final answer REG.)
