Thanks, ...Got my 1/4 windows from a C/L guy in your neighborhood. (I think he's fresh out of the Army) ets'd out of Benning. He had two really nice windows for 50.00.

Ordered a new aluminum radiator and an oil filter reloc kit today. ( I don't like how close the #5 header tube was to the oil filter) It'll be here tomorrow
(too bad I don't have a car to put it on yet)

Just talked w/ the painter....he was comparing my progress on his car to his progress on mine. Common consensus is that they'll both be done by end of next week. He did paint the hood, hood scoop and the taillight panel in hot rod black. All that's left is the red topcoat on the body.

Looks like I'll have to color sand and buff if I want the job to really go to the top,..he kinda said that that was on me. N.B.D., I've buffed the last 6 cars myself.

I'm seeing red

It's starting to happen.

The following pics are the final steps before the rest of the car follows suit.
The pics of the nose are actually covered in a barrier called "slime" to protect them from over spray. It is water soluable, and just washes off after its all painted.

All of the jam work is now done. The hot rod black is all done. I only have to wait for the painter to get "free time" from his other job related obligations, and it's done. After that, I'll help him lay out the red band that'll cross the front of the hood to make up the red grille surround and it comes back home for the reassembly.

He just had to peel back some of the slime, to show me what it looks like underneath. I'm smiling at this point.

????? There are pictures of the doors off the car painted .Pictures of the jambs painted w/o any doors hung, AND the strikers are still not back on in any of the photos. The things you think are strikers, are the holes that the seatbelt door sensor sticks through.

And if you are referring to the area that the door panel will completely cover, that I could care less is still blue, yes the door is not completely painted. Sorry.

It's looking great man, unless you're planning on driving around with no door panels or interior plastics who cares if the inside metal you'll never see isn't red?!

One person that I know of so far. I guess that I could have painted the entire door, but if I was concerned about the color mismatch on items that are "under cover", then I'd have to paint the interior floor, and the bottom of the car as well. The unpainted part of the door will have dynomat as well as the entire "blue floor" covering it. At 175.00 a qt., I decided to conserve the paint so it could be put where you'd see it.

I can't wait to see this thing done!

Mike, you should take this on tour, lol!

I would like to see it in person also, if you ever find yourself in the DFW area. Hey, you could take it to Goodguys at TMS in Oct! Or Mid America Ford and Shelby Meet next year.

The whole damn world may get to see it.........Maybe.

I sent the link to the build thread to our two favorite late model Ford magazines last week.
The editor from one has since responded so far, stating that they may be interested in featuring the thing once I get it back together and running.

Either way, whether it's in the mag or not, I am looking for a regional "meet" still happening this year to take it to to get it exposed, and because I just want to drive it.

The immediate event is in August. ( Woodward Dream Cruise), and It seems like a really long way to drive for one night.
(besides, not having booked a hotel, I doubt I'd be able to spend the night anywhere close, and I might not have enough time to get it back together by then)
I really haven't looked that hard yet, but September and October are probably more do-able.
The Good Guys Texas event will probably be "the one".

The car should be mine (again) by mid-week.
I have a laundry list of junk to do to it when it gets back:

Install the 1/4 windows that I have yet to receive, despite having paid for them 10 days ago.

Install new windshield.

Install & wire ( for the first time) the new headlights, taillights, front turn signals, rear back up lights, and license plate light.

Fill brake system ( for the first time) and bleed.

Change out plastic clutch quadrant for new Steeda aluminum unit. and adjust that damn clutch (also for the first time)

Install roll bar (main hoop only) and build plates and tabs to bolt it to the floor and upper seat belt anchor point.
The roll bar sole purpose is to become an anchor point for the new seat belts.

Install 2" 4 point seat belt system(s) for front seats.

Cover floor in sound deadener. NOT DYNAMAT! THEY SUCK!!!
(there is a reason I hate them, just ask)

Install the interior.

Touch up and re-attach all of the black trim.

Install new aluminum radiator. Wire new fan.

Relocate oil filter ( I didn't like how close it was to the #5 header tube that I built.)

Finish the tank filler neck.

Finish plumbing and wiring the fuel system.

Get the front end aligned, Hope that the bumpsteer spacers I have come up with are close enough to eliminate the massive bumpsteer the car had as a result of lowering the rack 3/4" to allow the stupid 2 v to fit.

"Stick" all of my stripes and emblems on the car.

Add clearance to the binding rear coil overs.

Calibrate the speedometer for the new tires. Change the base timing map in my MSD timing controller (2 degrees too much timing)

Then, when all that junk is done,...maybe I can drive it somewhere.

Oh, why do you hate Dynamat? I have to hear the story. That stuff is too expensive for me anyway.

I bought enough of the first generation stuff to completely do the interior of the previous project (200.00 worth) They don't make this stuff anymore, they acknowledged that the next gen foil backed stuff was far superior.

Like all the rest of the stuff I bought for the car, I bought it and put it on a shelf of my climate controlled garage until the day I needed it.

3 years is a long time now granted, but the dynamat sitting in boxes, in my garage never saw less that 40 degrees in the coldest of winter, and 80 degrees in the summer.

When I opened it this spring to line the floor of the current Mustang, it broke into tiny little pieces like a cracker as I tried to unroll it.

After complaining to Dynamat, they said that their product only had a one year warranty and they would not honor a replacement. This is despite the fact that I did nothing to it except store it waiting to have a place to use it.

So....DYNAMAT SUCKS

Wonder what would happen to it once you placed it in your vehicle and had it sit in say un-garaged Florida heat and humidity. Sounds like Chit to me.
