Some of you know that I have an '89 Fox which I'm building for NMRA True Street competition. Well, after 3.5 LONG years apart, I was finally able to make a couple of test passes at NMRA Bradenton last week. I didn't launch the car hard because it is a totally new combo so I need to make sure everything works before I try to make a hero pass. However, the car did run 155mph through the traps. I was pretty pleased with that. Now I'm going to make a few small tweaks and see just how far into the 8s we can push this hooptie.

Love the through-the-hood intake! Thanks for being fearless and not putting a monster cowl on it!

Awsome car man. Are you coming to Commerce for the NMRA race in April? I'm looking forward to seeing Ttops car in person.

"Necessity is the mother of invention", as they say. I didn't have $1000+ for a 4" hood shipped, plus paint work. Besides, I'm only 5'9". If I put a 4" hood on the car, I'll have to drive with my head out the window like Ace Ventura! Anyway, it took A LOT of small cuts to clear the intake. I was afraid to go in all crazy and cut too much. It took quite a while. The cool part is that even with the solid motor mounts, it's a bit of a "shaker" because of the big solid-roller cam.

Thanks dude. The ET was horrible because I didn't even attempt to hit full throttle until way down the track, but the car showed potential. Here's an outside view of the launch:

Thanks. Commerce is a definite maybe. Still need to align the car, set the pinion angle, zero the preload, etc... I'm looking forward to seeing 84Ttop's car too!

Georgia is going to be a blast, I can't wait. I'll be rolling in full out ugly trim as my paint budget has dwindled for now. All this nickel dime stuff eats up some serious cash, lol.

Btw Sharad, you definitely better be there. No excuses. I'll have the tools in the trailer to setup the suspension. What do you think, 1.20 60' in true street? What size tire you running? What kind of boost have you seen with the f1r?

You're killing me bro! I want to go. I even convinced my wife to schedule the weekend off of work so she can watch the kids. Also, I ordered some goodies from Summit Racing last night... I'm trying hard man. We'll see. If I can't hook up with you guys there, I'll figure out a way to meet up with you some other time. I want to see your true street car and Kris's. They seem like some wicked machines!

As for the 60-foot time, I suspect that that's all in the converter. My chassis is 25.2 and I have the same suspension as Brian Mitchell. (he's run 1.18) I'll be happy with a 1.30. That should give me about an 8.75 @ 158. But my converter is way loose. I'm seriously expecting about a 200hp gain from a tighter converter. (low 8s???) I'm running 275/60-15s and the F1R is pushing 28psi at 120° IATs.

Oh yeah.. I forgot to mention your comment about "nickel and dime stuff". After I thought my car was "done", I spent about $1,000/month for a YEAR to get it where it is today.

What trans are you running? I have a spare converter for a turbo spline glide you can try if you want. Its the one I had when I made 1075 rwhp. I went with the Cameron's converter which has been incredible so far. The dyno graph actually shows the converter trying to pull the motor down under boost and want to hold it around 7000 in high gear almost like a lock up. If you want to try my spare pm me and I'll send you my number.
Killer on 28 lbs!!!

I'm running a Dynamic Mighty Mite C4 X6. (their Renegade trans) I was told by several people that the 3-speed would be a good choice for a centrifugal blown street car. So far so good, but as I said, I'm expecting A LOT more power with the tighter converter.

Thanks for offering to try your converter. I talked to JR at Dynamic today. I think I'm going to gather a little more data and then send the converter back to be tightened. It runs well now, but I want it to be 100%. These turbo boys are making 1200+ to the tires in true street!

Bah, to those turbo guys. I'm keeping the xb105 on mine. 1327 to the tire @ 7400 and still climbing. I ran out of fuel the new aeromotive pump i ordered just came in..

Yeah, I've never been into turbos. They do neat things on the dyno, but blower cars seem to get down the track really well. I talked to Steve at TCT today. He's planning to lower my stall speed and cut my slip % in half. I shouldn't have any trouble surpassing 1000rwhp after the converter adjustment. I can't see any reason my car shouldn't make as much power as yours. Guess we'll see. I'm going to take it back to the track with this converter first though. I went over my datalogs from the last outing and my sample rate was 1 Frame Per Second. Noobie Fail. One more testing trip to the track and THEN I'll send the converter back.

That's more than I can say, I forgot to hit the data logger on one pass and when I did on the second the memory was full, whoops. I do have one good data log so far.

I can wait to see some numbers from yours dyno and at the track. I think we should be a really good match up on the track.

I'll keep you posted on the numbers. It would definitely be cool to line em up sometime. I'd like to say we could try one of the northern NMRA races, but I'm pretty darn poor. We'll see if I can haul my bucket up north sometime this year.

Yes!!! consider Joliet, IL! Second week in July! But can understand the gas thing if you cant make it! It gets expensive in fuel alone for the hauler.
