Had the car out the the track last night and finally managed to get a few clean passes in without missing third gear, haha. The car went a string of 12.9s, the best one being 12.93 @ 109.65.

Other than goofing around with the tune, I've made no changes to the car. Still on street tires and lifting in between shifts, so I was pretty happy about it.

We'll see what the weather does- maybe I'll get it out to the track one more time this year. I'd like to sneak into 110 territory, and I know it's just about finding the right shift points.

Then this winter it's time for moar powa.

That's a good MPH to gauge how fast it really is. That's moving for a 302 with big parts.

Haha! One of my buddies was out last night too, in what he literally calls his “garbage” race car. It’s a gutted ’86 with a cast-junk bottom end, flat tappet, iron head, completely untuned carb’d 351 backed by a stock converter and a ratchet shifted auto, and he ran a 12.3 @ 112 on one of his first passes ever with the 351. He’s got mere pennies in that thing and I’m totally jealous, haha. It’ll go 11s easy once he gets it all sorted out.

Congrats Nik. I know I've teased you about your ET in the past, but like many have said, a lot of it is in the driving. Practice bangin those gears without lifting and that baby will get there. Sometimes it's tough to be rough on your baby, but if you really want that time you gotta drive it like ya stole it!

Funny thing is, the car is on it's third T5, so it's not like I haven't broken one before, haha. I’m more afraid of being stranded at the track than I am putting a new trans in it (I live about an hour away from the track).

The car was never meant to light the drag racing scene on fire, it’s always been intended to be more of a mild-mannered street car, so I know the track times are kind of lukewarm for what it is… Ain’t hurting my feelings. If I could go mid 12s at 110+ on street tires I’d be tickled pink.

We’ll see if I even get another stab at it on the current combo. The track will only be open for another month, and then this winter the car will see more cubes.

Ha! Well, when I put these exact same top end parts on a healthy stroker bottom end and make 400+ to the tire NA, people are finally going to start saying “ohhhh… I get it now.”

Yea. I know. My cylinder heads cost more than my 60” flat screen TV. It was rough at first but I’m over it. I’m still money ahead of the million guys out there who bought 165s, grew out of them, then sold them at a loss and bought 205s.

I've got a buddy that races SCCA and he just built a 347 with Brodix heads. N/a on an engine dyno it laid down 585/ 480. That is, however with a dart block. My plan is to ultimately build something like that only with boost. I wanna go play with Mark Winters and prove a fox is/ can be competetive in that arena.

Seriously how big you going this winter? After market or 9.5"? Love to see some pictures at the track of your car, black tee top 4 eyed.

I'm very tempted to build a dart-based 363. Right now I have no intentions of making 4 digit power, but I could totally see 700-800 with a little boost down the road, and I like the idea of something that would basically be a no-hassle bolt in job (as opposed to a Windsor, which would require a bunch of swap parts and a hood. Dammit though, I do love me the big W.)

By the way, Foxes can and do compete on the big boy level, I just think the majority of them end up being race-only, or they are just owned by guys that don't necessarily hang around the multi-million dollar shop-built Italian supercar crowd, for better or worse.

I don't take any pictures of my car at the track, in fact, I have to run it with one of those covers you see the OEMs use on their prototype cars so none of the Chinese people will try to copy the design of my car and sell it for half the price.

Nice job man, i remember the first time i came around and picked up my first 12 second slip. I still have it somewhere lol. I was so excited i thought it had to have been a mistake until i backed it up with a faster pass, then i got shut down for not wearing a helmet lol.

Because it's a t-top car, I flip my sun visors forward instead of backward, and when I accelerate hard (like, when drag racing), they slowly fall down. Last night on my first 12 second run, right after I shifted into 4th, I reached up and pushed my sun visor back into place (is that weird to do while drag racing? Haha.) and just as I did that the clocks came into view just as they lit up "12.9"

I proceeded to fist pump a few times, shout "F*** YEA", and talk trash to myself about the LS1 car I beat by a full half second on that run.

Then I got back to the pits and realized that I knew the guy in the LS1 car LOL!
