Finally Decided to get Blown

I think anyone with > 302 and a power adder needs to get the Snow Meth Inj kit. I allows you to run more timing (or same if you want to be conservative) but keep your risk for detonation low by lower the ICT. Eades ran RICH with 42's and 500+ HP by using the kit. It also "acts" as fuel and allows a lower injector to suffice.
Good LUCK!!!

Snow Meth has sent a stage 2 kit to Tom he will try it ... If he gets good results my need for speed will kick in :nice: I have heard that some cars see better results than others with the kit.

40-60HP is what Ive read/seen/heard.

The decrease in ACT is like running 120 octane in the tank.

You can even save $$ by running regular gasoline

i have a 331 with a vortech and victor jr heads and 55lb squirters with a 255 intank, t rex inline, -8 feed line and -6 return line, 80mm pro m meter and power pipe, and i made 470 to the wheels. i have since changed the anemic cobra manifold to an edelbrock performer rpm II so i will be getting the chip reburned this week with hopefully better #'s. i had 42 lb injectors on there but when i was having it dynoed i was told they were 2 small so i went to the 55's. so i spent almost 4 bills for injectors that were 2 small so if anybody needs em they have like 300 miles on them. the compression is a little high, mine is a few less than yours (9.8-9.9) so when its tuned they will have to take it easy with the timing. i would definetly have a chip burned, it wont run for **** without some type of tune.

Let me know what your numbers are with the Intake change. My son makes 525rwhp with a 331 and a Cobra Intake, 42# squirters. Wonder how much difference it will be. I will have a chip burned, definately..

With a compression ratio like that, wouldnt it be wise to throw nitrous on there? Nitrous loves high compression motors unlike blowers.

You are right a nitrous shot would do it. My oldest Jay had an 8sec drag bike on nitrous and he pound on me to get a S/C. He said I would be pissed when I hit the switch and I was out of juice :( . I looked into it and by the time you buy warmers and all the stuff you are around a $1K or so. I through more money at it and can have power all the time.:D

I think 450 is UNDEestimating at 8lbs. I just hope you can tune it to run with your high compression.

My son Tom agrees with you says I will be around 500rwhp. If it is then Mike (tuner) will tune it down (I hope). I have talked to Tom about changing to a bigger pulley(less boost) and he laughed :D He said no one wants to go that direction:D .

that blower with the stock pulley will only make around 6-8 lbs which should be fine on my 302 mine made 10 with a power pipe .

Thanks for the info. A 347 with more air flow will process the air differently, can't wait, I've read a lot of stuff some say I will get less #'s of boost, but the motor will use it better and some say I will get more boost, Can't wait. My goal would be to get in the 11's like you.:D

Steve, with the added cubes pulley for pulley you should see LESS boost since boost is a measure of backpressure in the intake track. The blower is pushing X amount of air in a certain RPM due to the way it is pullied, anything you do to make that discharge air flow more freely or if the motor has a larger area to fill when the intake valve opens then boost should go down since more of the air is in the cylinder and not in the intake tract.

Good luck with it and keep us posted!

Less boost is what I am hoping for since it should be easier on my High compression motor 10:1. I understand what you are saying as far as boost/backpressure and agree. What I don't understand is that my son with a 331 and a similar setup sees 10 to 12#, I don't expect to see that.. The only difference I know of is he has a powerpipe and a 9.8:1 ratio, and a few less cubes:) . Didn't think those would make that much difference. The install will tell... can't wait.

Hi,
How did you do with the Eldelbrock intake vs Cobra intake??

Waiting til after Christmas for my install busy time of year. Considering a lightning maf and 42lb.'s :D

as a few people have said, 450whp is underestimating it. i had a stock bottom 302 with a mild h/c/i setup (by mild i mean gt40x heads, tfs stage 1 cam, and a gt40 intake, definitely not the best performing choices for a blown car). at any rate, with the s-trim seeing 6psi on the gauge the car made 394hp 411lb/ft. with the added cubes and few extra psi along with a better flowing setup, you should be much closer to the 500whp mark.

! think you are probably correct. Just hoping not to get the block splitting HP:)

WERD!!

IN the few years Ive been on here, it seems that 420-440 is the "norm" with a 302 H/C/I and blower. 500 is definitely attainable....also may consider the Meth inj kit....That will probably allow you to safely use 42# injectors.

i am worried about the same thing which is why i am going with a dart sportsman block. for some reason though, chp, dss, keith craft, and several others have all told me just to stick with a production block with my new build. all of them tell me that i wont have any bottom end issues at the 550whp mark which is what i am shooting for. i would figure that the bottom end would be a time bomb at that power level but thosew 3 pro engine builders swear differently. at any rate, if what they are telling me is correct, you should be fine at the 500hp mark as long as the tune is good.

Hi
Have a 347 stroker that is why more HP, The extra 45 cu. by themselves would do it!! :)

at 500hp he still should be safe with the 42's. it seems like the most common fuel mods at that power level that i have seen are a 255 intank, t-rex, and 42's.

Hi,
Well you just made my day... Sounds encourging :D My son tried to talk me into a sportsman wish I had spent the money now!! Hoping for the best, my tuner says to tune it up... If you detune it to mush it leads to other problems heat in the wrong places etc.

Good luck with yours, have you started yet??
