After 6 months of body work and other associated crappola (Y'all know what I mean-> "while I have it apart I might as well..."), it's finally here!

These were taken in bright mid-day sunlight today. The flames will be more subtle in different light. In fact, as I was driving it home, I could hardly see them at all because of the angle I was viewing them from. They were sprayed with tons of pearl in the clear coat. If you get really close to it you can see flakes of all sorts of colors, but the overall impression is a silvery gunmetal like color.

I'm very happy with the shapes and the overall quality of the job. It's not perfect, but based on the steal that I got the job for (less than $2K for some bodywork, spraying the whole car, and the flame job) I'm thrilled.

I'll post more when I get all the chrome and stuff back on it, but here's how it sits right now.

hey blake the flames right in the center of the hood look kind of like a girls a$$, did you happen to notice that. i like the flames i've always wanted a car with flames, just not the stang, maybe if i ever find a 69 ranchero i'll flame it, that would be cool.

It is a fiberglass GT 350 scoop bonded to an original steel hood that I bought with the hole already cut in the center.

Hehe it does. It looks like it's over 60 years old, but I'd still grab it.

The car looks great! But in the one pic it looks like the scoop is crooked. What brand paint did they use?

Heh, you're right. It does look a little crooked in that pic. I assure you it is straight as an arrow in person. Just an ever-so-slightly angled POV on the pic makes it look weird. It is DuPont single stage polyurethane.

Congrats Blakester, I know this day has been a long time comin. I'm glad you went with the silver over the red and it looks like you got one hell of a deal on it. Not as subtle as I was expecting but it's making me wonder now if I don't want to include some ultra subtle flames of my own into the blacked out Mach 1 hood area, kind like that guy with the 68' Fastback had done into his Lemans stripes. Drawing a blank on his name right now, but I remember him having to sell it for some reason shortly after it was done and never hearing from him again.
