first drive and pics

well I got it running yesterday and drove it to work. I fired it up and with my trusty fire extinguisher at my side headed to the gas station for some 93 octane. well the good news is I didn't need the fire extinguisher, but was less than happy with the way she rode. I had an army of bugs and isues. the auto ride is giving me fits it rides like there are no springs and just bounces like a gocart. and don't get me started on the way it runs. now I need to mention that it ate about 3 quarts of oil when the od turbo went out so it still may just be nasty. but I have already replaced the o2 senserand plugs and ran a whole bottle of see foam through the intake. it also doesn't have the exast hooked up yet. she has a bad miss and no balls and is pretty much useless after 2nd gear. this may have something to do with the exast, I realy don't know. I still have a lot of work to do.

as promiced here are some pics of the ford motorsport fmic. it went in real easy and only needed alittle modification due to the fact that it is ment for a pre 86 t-bird I had to trim the header panal but it is all out of site. man I can't wait till it runs right. it already tried to spool up on me but with how ruff its running I let out as fast as I could. ill be putting on my tester at work today to see if its throughing any codes. wish me luck.

ya I'm pretty sure its timing and the open exast putting the wammy on me. I'm gona check it on monday.

turns out I'm retarded. I had the number 2 and 3 plug wires backward on the dis. she now runs great and can easaly roast the 275/55/15 nitto 555RS that sit under her flank. and at only 10psi. I still need to get the exast hooked up and then its off to the 1/8th mile.
on a side note yesterday I took an LS1 camero driver for a little ride and he kept saying how fast it was. to with I responded "not bad for a 4cyl ah?" he looked startled and replyed "THIS IS A 4CYL" he wouldn't beleve me so I had to pull over and pop the hood. then I told him it was still at its lowest boost setting. Man I love this car.

I still haven't taken it over 10psi yet. I get my exast hooked back up today, so it won't sound like a semi truck spooling up any more
I'm having some problems with the ride control the struts are compressing but won't rebound. I hope to get it fixed today.

do the 1/8 before the Exaust, it runs SOOO much better without. Once i got my Exaust hooked up it felt like someone had Added 500lbs Extra to the car on the way home.

ok tme for another update. I had my old "Exaust" hooked up(downpipe, cat, and y-pipe. nothing else no mufflers or tail pipes. we talked about the new system that will be replacing it soon. manderal bent 3inch down pipe, to 3inch high flow cat, to flowmaster, to mustang tail pipe. all for about $400 to $450. the car is making its first public apearance tonight at a local get to gether. should turn some heads. it sounds mean with out mufflers. I miss the sound of the open turbo but am happy to be able to drive with the windows up with out the fear of death by exfixiation.....

you should hear the turbo just fine with a nice open 3" exhaust. i have one on my 2.5t in my shadow; 2.5"-3" downpipe, then straight back through a factory Cummin's resignator... it sounds b-a-d ass. you can hear the turbo spool up and it sounds so fricken' healthy at 5-6 grand, your 2.3t should be no different.

bad mistake choosing a flowmaster....a cat+ chambered muffler will kill spool. My exhaust is a 3" Dp to a straight thru 3" glasspack...comes out before the rear tire. Not to loud but i also have a ported head and essy 2277 cam so yours should not be as loud as mine. even if you choose to run it out the side with no muff.

another update

oh did I have a close one the other day... I was gave my roomate a ride in the tbird becouse he hadn't ridden in her sence the new turbo. I found a ong strait peace of frontage road
with no off ramps or side streets so as to make for no surprizes. I puled to a stop and put it in first. I then gave it some gas and spooled up, slipped the clucth and gave her hell. emediatly sending my 275/50/15 nitto 555RS in to a smoke show. fianaly it hooked and and we where off. 1st,2nd,3rd, then in to 4th. I let out after that and hit the brakes. he was thurowly inpressed at the display of power from my little power plant. but I don't think the cop was who was now coming in to view in my mior. I new I was in for it as I have not gotten a ticket in quite some time. I pulled over and prepaired for the worst. he informed me of why I was being pulled over "exesive exeleration. then he told me why I was NOT getting a sitation. aparently when I took off he tried to fallow, but to no avail apearently was goig to fast for him to radar me and that is how I did not geet a ticket. he let me go with a handshake.

I'm more than lucky. I'm the only person I've ever met who got out of a ticket becouse I was going to fast.
