Well hey guys whats going on?

First post here basically even though ive been registered a while. Ive been looking for a 5.0 a while and the search has been long and still going on. However the last one i looked at had this handle on the headliner. What the hell is it for? I dont remember seeing it on the other ones ive looked at and it confuses me. Hey it might have been there on the other cars, but i just noticed it now.

THoughst? It almost looks like a sunroof handle, but well, theres no sunroof.

Yup, flip it down from the front and it's a map light you can aim.

However, more often than not, the contacts inside have oxidized over to the point where electrical current does not flow...and it will not work.

It can be fixed, but the map light needs to be removed from the car and disassembled and the contacts cleaned with sandpaper

Ah ha. thank you gentlemen. It didnt light up when i unhooked it, so if it did that would have helped in the ID process. Thank you once again.

The little black button (switch) thingy that releases when you open it sticks on mine.I have to push it once or twice before the light turns on.

Yea, IMHO, the map light has an expected life expectancy of 4 uses from the factory. Typical of a lot of the quality of many components on a Fox Mustang.

Of course. Im far from new to Fords so it must be like the center armrest storage bin on Rangers, the center grille on a 69 Cougar, the column shifter in a 68 Galaxie, power windows on any old Ford or...

well.... i could go on and on
