I have an 87 vert with a stock suspension and 255 rears and 235 front and now the tires rub the shocks a little, what are their purpose and how do I go about flipping them? just take off the wheel, unbolt them and turn them in the opposite direction and rebolt, or can I remove them all together?

Dont remove them unless you have good aftermarket lower control arms, their purpose is to control wheel hop caused by the flimsy stock lower control arms and rubber bushings. You have the idea though, just flip them over.

When I got lower control arms I removed the stock quad shocks at once. The shocked were wasted though. When I took them off I tested them and they would not rebound! They would stay in the down position! So take yours off test them, if they are good "flip them". If they are bad take them off cause they are probably doing more bad than good. Just get good ones soon or get aftermarket lowers.

They dont rebound, they are suppose to be hard to push in or pull out! I would NOT remove them from my car.

Not at all, 1 bolt in the front and 1 nut out back, pull it off and flip it the other direction, reinstall the bolt and the nut. NOTE: the forward side has the bolt coming in from the inside into the welded nut!

They are shaped so that the shaft pulls out of the body of the shock, so by flipping it you are moving the body of the shock away from your tire and having just the shaft close to your tire.

Yeah i would flip them and make plans to get some nice control arms. Once you get nice control arms you can take them off. If you do get good control arms though make sure you put the anti sway bar on them some people take them off and it makes the wheels hop more than ever. Wheel hop=Broken drivetrain Parts

Each car is different, even with the best aftermarket control arms you may still need your quads.

There are tons of them out there. If you are going to put new LCAs in you better weld up your torque boxes at the same time as the new ones will add more stress to the area!

Alot may have to do with your wheel choice as aftermarket wheels can have different backspacing and place your wheel more inboard or outboard. The front fender extension are larger in the 87-90 GT and 91-93 GTs had smaller ones to fit the Pony wheels. I have 245/45/17 all the way around and my car is lowered 3/4", but I installed rack limiters.

I run a simular set..no problems with them at all. The install was timely but not bad and the result was quite good compared to the stock components. I know people will trash the polly bush mount cheaper set but they serve a purpose..cheap upgrade for "average" stangers. I would recomend the torque box reinforcment regardless of the brand..I have not done so, but will over the coarse of the yr. The cheaper sets are not encouraged for use if your a big corner carver, as the bushings are not very forgiving and may cause binding..but for "normal" driving and spirited straight line driving like I do they are nice. I would also look at replacing the axle bushings (with rubber style) if you do the upgrade control arms. I was VERY surprised just how bad the rubber bushings were..as were the shocks/quads/spring insolators on my vehicle..I replace all the components with new..I got a really nice return on the street.

Rack limiters limit the amout you can turn the wheel. They reduce turning radius when larger tires/wheels have been added and rubbing becomes and issue when turning.

They should work just fine.

With these installed you can remove the quads completely.
