I would think you'd be good with just the FRPP 30#. The heads seem kinda small, I guess you're just reusing them. Did you talk to Ed about them (I see you're going FTI)? Are you considering getting any work done to them? Reason I ask is cause I have the same heads and I feel they're too small for my 331 and I'd like to open them up a little.

Yeah i talked to Ed about it. He said that they were a little small for his taste too but they should be able to make the power that i want. He adjusted the cam specs accordingly. I would love to open up the heads but i have just enough money to do this project. I like the fact that i can always upgrade later. :D

I think i should be fine with 30#s too, but does anyone have any experience with Accel injectors?

Hey John

Seems like I remember you were gonna go with 36's from talk back about a month ago

I think you will be close to the limit of 30's but that is not to say they won't be enough

You got the Tweecer so having a bit of growing room with 36's would not present any big time issues for you it would seem to me.

You may want to think again about using inj's that are not the mainstream choice of most peeps simply due to nobody else being able to relate and give you support if those inj's have different rates of delivery, offsets, and other differences.

Hey yeah i would like to go 36#s but i can only seem to find these Accel injectors. Does FMS make 36# injectors anymore? which 36# injectors should i go with?

Is not Bosch the same inj as FMS Motorsport or whatever Ford calls themselves these days when talking about parts?

If that is so ... maybe you can find some Bosch 36's

Just a thought and ... not much help I know :(

30's are fine for that particular combo. I use 30's on mine and I definatly make more power and rev higher. I would go 36's if you plan on making more power down the road. You have a tweecer so tuning won't be an issue for the bigegr injector.

Have you used your PMS to see how hard you're working those 30's?

Grady, I took a glance at the PMS screen once at around 5k rpm or so and the duty cycle was 70%. I shift the engine at 6,700 when I race/beat on it. I have not checked at that rpm but i've been meaning to. Hopefully this weekend if its nice and I remember. This is at 39-40psi fwiw.

70% you say :)

Wonder how things would be at say a high gear like 3rd or 4th which will put a high and sustaining load on the inj's.

If you remember to take a look ...... please let us know ........

Inquiring minds NEED to know those kinda things :rlaugh:

I think it was 3rd gear that I looked. 4th gear will be tough to do as thats pretty fast on the street

I hear ya about the high speed :(

I remember the first time I had the little woman riding shotgun and working the laptop when I was gonna dlog a long pull in 4th gear after dialing in my final wot fuel ratio.

I had been doing all my wot tuning in 3rd gear cause 2nd went by too fast for enough data events and then there were times the data would be skewed due to loss of traction :bang:

Anyway ...... we had a suitable section of straight highway with no traffic at that particular time which was night btw.

I backed out of it at about 5 Grand as that was just too much speed for me considering it was a public road, the safety issue, my wifee being with me and ...... I got enough data to tell me what I wanted to know anyway without going to the rpm limit.

A foolish thing on my part :nono: :chair:

and

I don't know what I was thinking since I had done countless 3rd gear pulls and those all knocked on the door of 100mph

Yeah those WOT 3rd gear tuning pulls can really get the adrenaline going. But the reward is much worth it.

So guys i just ended up going with the FMS 30s. The other brand 36s made me a little nervous. I did not want to stray into the abnormal. I know in the high RPMS on this set up i see in the 80% duty cycle range. Hope these 30#s can get the job done. Thanks for all of your input. Strangly i am kind of looking forward to all the tuning i have in front of me. Especially with the PLX-300 wideband that will be going in.
