I picked up a pair of Sylvania Silverstar bulbs (9145ST) for my fogs. Not sure how to get to the back to change them. Anybody done this?

took me all of 5 mins, but i kow what i am doing (bodyman). might take you a little longer, if you dont do it all day long and are trying to be careful, so you dont break the tabs. they are pretty sturdy, but i would still be careful. i say, it should not take any more than 20 mins for a rookie. installation is about 1 min. it just snaps back into place. also, be careful about putting in brighter bulbs, many people have been experiencing problems with the little black piece in the center of the fogs breaking off after new bulbs....do a quick search, there are a few threads about the breakage.....tapd117 said:For some reason I thought this was going to be a really quick 5 or 10 minute job. Before I jump into this, how long did the grill removal take? I may just hold what I have. Thanks for info...........
what are you using for tools?GOLDENPONY said:Took my first run at it with no luck. I can't get the arrow tabs to release and push back through the holes-maybe I just need to use a little more force. I'll try it again later after I think about it some more.
i did it both ways, but i think it worked better for me going twoards the front of the car....GOLDENPONY said:Just a screwdriver. The square tab to the inside of the arrow tab-do I push it down (Toward front of car) to allow the arrow tab to move to the center and pass through the hole, or lift up on it (Toward rear of car)?

glad it worked out for you!!!tapd117 said:Okay,
I just finished, I went by our body shop guys instructions, (thanks) using a screw driver, I used it on the plastic plugs they eace have a straight side and carefully pulled them up. I picked up the plastic cover and placed it on my shaker scoop. This exposed the fog lights in front of the radiator. On each side there are two tabs on on top of the other, using a screw driver I pryed them back very carefully, the grill released, I pushed it back just enough to remove the bulbs, they released very easy. I didn't mess with the bottom grill tabs.
I carefully removed the stock bulbs and put the Silverstar 9145ST's in being careful not to touch them. Turned them on prior to putting in the light housing to make sure they worked and put everything back together. Remember to be careful about not hitting the black metal bracing things in the driving lights when putting in your new ones. The tabs holding the grill didn't seem to be as tight when I put it back together, but everything is working just fine.
Will wait till dark to see how they look, almost decided not to proceed, this was a 15 minute projectI choose the Xtravision & Silverstar bulbs from Sylvania for my GT because they don't pull anymore juice from the electrical system. I didn't want any melt down issues with my lights.
