Hi, I was wondering if anybody knew how to wire in a keyless entry system for a Fox mustang. Mine is an 87 hatchback and I do not know where to find the relays for the door locks or what wires to use. Any help is appreciated, Thanks in advance, Josh

I don't have a wiring diagram for that year but you might check tmoss for a diagram
Are you using aftermarket or adapting a factory setup from a newer car?

I am looking into a very cheap keyless entry system but I don't know if the door lock actuators are positive or negative trigger, so If they don't work out with the stock ones, then I will buy universal lock actuator since I know they will work, but for the most part I am hoping to keep it stock. I am probably going to go with a cheap one from ebay that is around 13 dollars and with a little ingenuity will make this work.

There are no triggers or relays; it is all old fashioned switches and motors.
The diagram below is for an 89 Mustang; yours should be very similar If not the same.

I added a Viper 211HV keyless entry system to my 1993 and it was pretty straightforward. The 12 volt forums are very helpful for identifying wires needed for different years. Basic knowledge of wiring, reading a diagram and a decent soldering iron are very helpful. The worst thing that happened during the install was I reversed the wiring of the door locks and the system locked when pushing unlock. It was a simple correction and now I love having keyless entry. I'm adding the window automation kit to operate the windows with the touch a button.

Let me find it. But there is a harness that lets you do it without cutting anything.

If it's any help to you, when I did the keyless in my 91 coupe I had a lot of trouble finding the door lock wires. I tested every one that matched the colors they were supposed to be in the driver kick panel and none of them were lock wires.

I finally realized that the wires were tucked way up under the dash but by removing the driver's side dash speaker grill I was able to get at the wires much more easily. They are taped and I think connected by a tab or two but you can pull them out a bit carefully and then make your lock/unlock connections there. Still not the most room to work but much better than trying to work with them up under the dash.

I believe most keyless entry systems support 5-wire lock systems so you should be able to get it working without a separate set of relays. Oh and one other note, my lock/unlock wires were the opposite of the color codes I found online so be sure to test them to know for sure which are which
