Buy a fox. With the extra money you would've used to get a sn95 you can get a few parts too. Stiffening and handling would be my bag. Then you'll have a car that is lighter, faster, and handles better. Hit the junkyard for a Turbo coupe rear end (they come with 3.55 or 3.73 gears) and you have rear disc brakes (with a few other parts needed for the conversion).

I don't know what citys you guys live in but in LA there are some girls who still flip when they hear and see a nice clean 5.0 fox roaring down the street!

....FOX..... Sorry but I've never liked the sn95. They just don't look like Mustangs to me. I've drivin one and it didn't feel like a Mustang either. It's all what you like though and what you're use to. I grew up in the 80's and always loved the fox body. The 94 change was just sad. Thank god for 1999.

I love the Fox style, I like the size of the fox because its small, not the weight but the outside look of the car. Look at a sn95 beside a notch or lx hatch and you'll see what I mean.

You're making me grin Stangbear - with your stereo equipment, yours is probably heavier than his!

I see folks getting a bit excited over the 2005 model and it's standard HP rating (300), but I've got a feeling it's gonna come in weighing around 3600 lbs. They're all (newer cars) just getting too big/heavy for me.

I've just recently crossed the line from SN95 to FOX. I've always wanted to own and drive a foxbody.

First impressions are that due to the foxbody's age, there are a lot of creaks/squeaks/moans. I dont know the true weight of my '90 vert but the title says it is only 3200 lbs. That's craziness!! The foxbody seems to have a lot more bodyroll through the turns and obviously the braking is not as good. The interior bugs me too....I was sorta spoiled with the SN95 interior. The exterior is a tossup cuz it depends on your taste. I love both but I think I like the more masculine look of the foxbodys over the more feminine look of the SN95. Also, another biggy is that with the foxbody, the computer is much more agreeable so pinging/overheating/ect are not nearly as much of a concern. Lastly, parts are much ceaper for the foxbody.

In the end....its a tossup I think.

I have had 4 Stangs in the past and all were Fox body except for my current 94 and I like this car for its lines with the paint I have. I am using it as a drag car and it has done well for me but no doubt in my mind that a notch back Fox is my favorite Mustang of all. My garage will sport another one in the future beside the 94.
btw chicks do dig the SN95 verts
(and that aint me on the hood either.)

I had an 89 coupe and now my 95 gt and I choose the gt because the confort and the other things people said such as five lug and 4 wheel disk and what not. I'll have another fox body one day but I personally prefer the sn95 if given the choice. It's all about what you like though man.

That doesn't make much sense... Doesn't the 94 body style look more like the 99's than the Foxes do?

My 94 feels like a Mustang. I've owned both(2 Foxes and a 94). I totalled my last 93 and wasn't going to get the SN95 which was new at the time. When the sn95 first came out, I didn't like them at all. I actually went to a 300zx because I refused to buy the new style. It finally grew on me and I missed the muscle car sound so I bought a sn95 and I like it. I still like the foxes. It just boils down to what ever you like.

SN-95 all the way! Undeniably an all around better car…..and this is coming from a Fox owner! Actually....I've had it with both of them and bought an MN12 Cougar XR7.

The SN95 would be a great car if it were 300 lbs lighter, had a decent computer and the parts were as cheap as the foxbody parts.

True, but weight is kind of an unavoidable side effect of better brakes, wheels/tires, stiffer chassis and the better interior. What do you think happens to the weight of the fox after all these upgrades have been put into place? They become a lot closer than you’d think. As far as the computer is concerned, it's become a pretty common and cost effective swap to change over to the earlier computer. More so than to attempt to swap everything else out on the fox to equal the quality and performance of the SN-95. As for overall cost, most of the Fox parts are the same as those of the SN-95. Those that aren't haven’t had the time to saturate into the market as the Fox stuff has, but are still getting cheaper every day while the mod motors continue to make up the ground.

I say if you’re buying from a personal visual taste perspective, or looking for a stripped, light as possible drag car, then the Fox is a feasible choice. But for any other aspect, you’d have to be out of your mind to buy backwards! Lighter doesn’t always mean better….otherwise we’d all be driving Mustang II’s and Ford Fairmont’s!

I aint saying lighter is better but heavier sure as heck aint. I know that much. Most people who design/engineer cars dont look at HP numbers but HP/LBS ratio. The lighter the car, the less power you need to obtain similar speeds. And better equipment doesnt necessarily have to mean more weight. I mean arent most high end components lightweight? I believe the majority of the weight difference is more due to the size of the cars. The SN95s are just plain bigger, bulkier and have more curves which end up requiring more material. And yes, you could always mod the car to do what you want but stock for stock and for people who dont really want to be messing with the brain of the car, the foxbody has a better computer. Thats all I'm sayin. The foxes are less technological but as we all know, the more technology you add to something the more prone it is to breaking. Sometimes raw simplicity is more desirable. At least I think so.
