This is my gripe with 99 percent of drift cars no Offense . They slowly but surely become neglected abuse victims . Until the owner realizes they can bring it most of the way back to a functioning car

It’s cool to watch to an extent , I will not deny that. Just hate seeing cars become slowly
Ruined . The work done mainly the wiring is a hazard at best on most of the ones I have seen at the track . My buddy had a Cressida that he grew to hate driving . He eventually saw the light and 90 percent of the stuff he ripped out like carpet and the rear seat all went back in . Car got painted . Put a nice stereo in it And removed the welded diff for a LSD . Makes 800 hp at the tire and he enjoys driving it and it not being a complete and total tin can .

I am far too fiscally conservative to waste tires in such a way. I have always felt that drifting was the drop out activity (let's not even pretend like it's a sport) for cars that weren't built well, and aren't capable of actually going fast.

I actually like drift events. I could never get into the sport myself but I do enjoy it. Tandem drifting is not as easy as it looks and takes skill. It's like a dance with the car. I used to drift around a lot in my first mustangs. We called it power sliding and " J " turning...even doing donuts is a kind of " drift ". Its an adrenalin rush to be right on the edge of loosing control....but being completely in control. The heavy modifications are what keep me from even entertaining the idea of competing. I went as far as looking into ordering front control arms for a fox from a company in Europe that makes drift arms. A friend of mine drifts his fox and his car is pretty nice. He drives it all over the place.

It's all about what someone personally likes. Some people would hate my car. I get asked all the time about why I have a turbo....or why I have an IRS. I'd never drag race another car of mine....but I'm part of a huge race team with some seriously fast race cars. I like any sport that has cars involved...even car soccer.

I don’t hate drifting or drift cars. I hate what they become and how most guys don’t put any thought into achieving the goal for the car . Its always just cut and take the easy way out on 90 percent of them .

Lol. I agree really. I still think its dumb to an extent. But it is pretty fun. Its the driving part and being able to put the car precisely where you want (well....). Ha. I only slide in the rain/wet to keep it cheap and less frequent. Extends tire life a ton also.

Its cheaper than drag racing. But this all depends on the person. You can do either on a budget or you can have a whole lot wrapped up into it.

I really questioned it before i got into it for a while. Im like its stupid. I feel that way about everything though. Kinda. But i had to try it, and it got me back in a fox. Once i learned it, id say 30 hrs of seat time/practice. It became fun. The transition from turning one way to the other and not spinning out is the hard part. That was when my car was stock also, no subframes,strut braces, springs, angle (1" spacers) body roll out the wazoo. Lol. Now its like how far can i push it. It is def. An adrenaline rush also.

Once i fix this, i got an alum. Driveshaft to put on. Stoked on that. And some QA1 single adj. Shocks. I got the shocks for $30! Off local fb page. Also some 16in cobra r's with 2 good tires, 2 meh for $40.
New eibachs for 120. Holley systemax 240. Just a kid in a candy store on local fb foxbody page/market place. Lol

Ok, there are pros out there that are putting on a show, like Monster Trucks and such. I understand that. Now everyone wants a drift car. Of course it's all junk cars that are hammed together. Every forum and talk group out there is now packed with "I'm building a drift car." Which for 70% of the people means they are going to do ignorant things in a Walmart parking lots, 28% do one drift event and figure out that it's too hard to do, and 2% might actually get somewhere with it.

Before i got started, i 100% planned on not doing any events. Too expensive for me. And what fun is a track. No danger, no cops. Just something fun to do when it rains at my street spots. Im all about keeping it cheap and fun. But damn do i want a 351w afr 205's and a big cam.

My point exactly. Not doing events, just going out and doing ignorant things. Now I'm not admonishing your choice, I actually see value in doing ignorant things. I just can't bring myself to burn down tires like that. Which by the way, I have a pair of mounted slicks and skinnies that are too old to be safe. If anyone wants to come over, mount them and burn them till they pop, have fun.

I'm sorry, I can't see it at as a sport. Call it an art, or an exhibition, being hard doesn't make it a sport. I play 6 different musical instruments, that takes skill, that doesn't make it a sport. Furthermore I think the drift craze has brought out all the numb nuts that think this is something fun to do on crowded roads. These are the people who don't have a decent amount of respect for reasonable safety. Street Racing at 2am in the morning on a decent remote road is reasonably safe. Doing it on I-drive at mid day is irresponsible. The drift clowns are now becoming a public menace like the ricers brought public attention to street racing. No one gave a crap about street racing until they made a stupid movie about it, and now it's like murdering someone. Now I don't street race anymore, and haven't done it in many years, but it doesn't bother me that some people go out onto a deserted highway in the middle of the night where they won't hurt anyone but themselves and continue to do it. I have a car with a drift mode. I have never put my car in drift mode, and don't intend to. I have to pay a really high insurance premium for this car, because idiots put it in drift mode and wreck the car. Youtube is full of drift mode crashes. Couldn't they have made that feature an aftermarket option?

It has an 8" screen. However, the 8" screen inhibits certain functions when the car is above a certain speed. See, that's a smart feature that curtails irresponsible behavior. Clearly the OP has enough information to get a replacement axle. I think this is a fine opportunity to get this discussion started. It reminds me of an old topic on Top Gear, can you sew a button in, one other thing, or masturbate while driving a car? I have actually attempted none of those things. I did get a BJ while flying a small airplane down the coast of Florida one time though; in a C150, which for anyone familiar with light aircraft would know that is a shear feat of talent on behalf of my flying partner.

But it does nothing but distract the idiot behind the wheel that thinks selecting the next Beyonce or Jz mix is more important that piloting a 5 k lb machine down the road in traffic at 40 mph.

There are very few drivers today on the road. Most see a vehicle as a conveyance so they can continue to text and eat spaghetti tacos on there way to whatever destination they seek.
