Front brake job.. What went wrong???

On my Mustang, when I had a bum caliper, I didn't get "shimmy", but the front brake got VERY hot. The piston was not retracting and maintained constant pressure against the disk. Drive it long enough, and you'll be able to smell it and fry bacon.

I removed the caliper, and was able to pop one piston out . The other piston was "frozen", so I just bought a new caliper (thanks to advice I got on this board). Problem solved.:SNSign:

Did you have to "push" The caliper pistons back in a little for the caliper to go over the new pads?

You have a 2003 model right?

Could be a stuck caliper, you try to pull out the brake pad from that side and try pressing the brake to see it caliper will move.

Just an idea.

if the calipers are pulsating, you may not have bed in the pads correctly. it take a few miles for the pads to adapt to the rotor surface. If your rotors were warped before you changed your pads, the the rotors may need to be replaced, not turned. The pulsating in the rotors are from hard sports on the rotor surface. even if you turn the rotor, there still there. On the soft pedal, you need to rebleed the fronts and see if it firms the pedal. did you have a soft pedal before you changed the pads? try this out and it should help. If you have purchased a hard pad, it may take alot of miles before it is bed in. follow the manufacturers specs for bedding in pads.
