Front brakes completed

So finished the front brakes, but had a couple snags...

Stainless steel brake lines had to be installed on opposite sides.. Drivers side would not thread into line, but the passanger side worked fine on the driver side and vice versus. But now I cannot use the C-clips to make them tight.. :shrug:

also The rotors rub the pads slightly when not braking.. Will this go away after a little usage?? Still need to bleed the lines. Brakes are very mushy.. And i now need to repaint the calipers since i scratched the crap out of them. Sorry about the horrible quality pics weather here is nasty....

Looks good. Once you drive it and seat the pads it should get better. Before seating the brakes one of the pistons may be out further than the other causing the pad to contact the rotor in a crooked fashion. You do need to bleed the brakes. Probably a good time to bleed all 4, so remember to start with the wheel furthest from the master cylinder (RR, LR, RF, LF).

Not sure about the brake lines, perhaps they were mislabled???

What color is your car??? Did you use black caliper paint over the red paint that came on the calipers? Any reason why?

Car is silver. Getteing black and silver FR500's soon and the rest of the car is silver and black, so i just continued the theme. Thought it would look weird everything black and silver and than have red calipers...

The brake lines were weird. they are specifically made to fit on a certain side, but the drivers side brake line would not thread into the metal line from the master cylinder... Not sure why.. As long as they work I will be happy..

I got it. Looking forward to the pictures when you're all done. Do you have tinted windows? If you've got black FR500's with the silver lip, black calipers, and silver paint I'd think tinted windows would really pull it all together. Sounds f'n sweet :nice:

Yeah, but going with Limo tint soon so it will be completely blacked out. The rims are ordered along with smoked LED headlights and tailights.

Waiting for other parts to do my rear brakes also.... 31 spline FRPP axles are on back order...:nonono:

Do I still bleed the master cylinder even though I never detached anything from it?? Thought that was only if I disconnected the lines from the master cylinder it self then I would have to bleed it. Yeah never bled a master cylinder before. But a have a Haynes manuel will hopefully help.

Right near Ft. LiquorDale.

i had to bleed mine even though i never touched it....its easy..only 2 lines going into it..the lines are connected by a small nut just like the brake lines....if i remember correctly bleed the rear line first then the front line.... very easy to do...

damn im up for so fl road trips but that ones a little to far....id come out and help ya but nevermind lol

Maybe it's just me, the camera angle or something, but it in those pics doesn't look to me like the caliper is sitting properly over the rotor or the pads are the incorrect size or...

It's like the the caliper is sitting too far "out" and the whole of the pad isn't touching the rotor. It almost looks like you're losing 1/4" or more of pad contact in that pic. Is this just an illusion?

It's the Bullitt Brakes, just painted black. The caliper bracket and eveything lines up and is screwed in. I hope it is sitting correctly :eek: gunna find out in a minute after a test drive.

Thanks Night Shifter, but for something this easy would be a waste of a trip. Now when I get my complete suspension package, I now know I have a volunteer........:rlaugh:

Okay well they work... Now the pads are still constantly rubbing. Very lightly but they are still rubbing. And right before I come to a stop I can feel and hear a loud rubbing noise, but only just before a stop. Braking at speed is fine.

Any suggestions???
