Front Struts...C/C Plates Install ???

Hey Everyone

My MM C/C plates should be in next week...Ive decided to try to "tackle" the install myself. (well Im gonna hit Joe up for a free lunch if he comes to give me some moral support-he doesnt know at the time of this post yet )

Anyway, I was gonna ask on here from the "how's" but I found MM's instructions, so cant get much clearer.


1. Just wanted to know of any caveats or tips to be aware of or to expedite the process.

2. I dont have struts now... I figured If I can change the C/C plates, I can change the struts on my own later. I was looking at these struts:

I want something that is of good quality, but does not necessarily have to be "top of the line" . I want to be able to add coilovers in the future..

For that price I would just spend the little extra and step up to Strange adjustable struts.

I'm also doing this install this weekend and would like any tips.

SAVE your $$$ and buy the bilsteins when you can if you are going to do coilovers, trust me it's the biggest improvement IN THE WORLD call MM and they will explain why the bilsteins ride better than any twin tube low pressure strut/shock...as opposed to a monotube design(bilstein)

Agreed. $469 including shipping on eBay. That's where I got mine. Good luck with C/C's, I did all the other suspension work but paid to have them put in.

I don't see where you would have any trouble,with the install....


on another note, i ordered those struts and shocks yesterday.... was gonnna get the adjustables, but couldn't justify the 500$, or the 500$ for bilsteins.....

Everyone i talked to that had them said they really do well for what they are....

CC plates are a simple install, have some files or a dremel handy, a jack and stands and after get it aligned ASAP. Otherwise about a one hour process.

Sorry I cant address each response individually...

BUT....I talked to Josh at Stangsuspension.com. He said that for the money, the ones in my link are as good as any other, and that the Bilsteins may not be worth the extra $$.. I may get coilovers down the line, and I know I can do them with either the Tokico's OR the Bilsteins. $500 is kinda steep when saving for an engine.


In general...what is the ride difference like compared to stock?

Hey Rob,

Whoever says that Bilsteins aren't worth the extra money either hasn't used them or isn't selling them. Even though I'm parting the GTS out as I move into another project, I'll still be using Bilsteins (with coilovers) on my new toy. In my opinion, they are well worth the extra money, ESPECIALLY for a street driven car.

As far as the CC plate install, you shouldn't have any problems. Make sure you have a drill and a decent set of handtools and follow the directions. Take the extra time to get the spacer setup right as compression length is critical with lowered SN-95's. You want that strut top to sit as high as possible without hitting the hood. As a matter of fact, if you haven't bought the struts yet, buy a set for a Fox body as they're 1" shorter and are much better suited for lowered 94+ cars.

Ever since I decided to swap the car all back to stock and sell everything, I haven't had to heart to see what fun everyone else has been having with their machines.

Bilstein's ARE worth the money. Tokico's are a great value for the money.

Bilstein uses a mono-tube design, which is far superior to the Tokico or Koni twin tube design. They are much more sensitive to changing road conditions, last longer, and are less affected by heat/wear over a long period of driving.

Tokico's I think are second best to Bilstein...

Koni I think should be scared... Tokico builds very good shocks... and now their D-Spec line is right up there in performance and quality to any Koni Double Adjustable...

Going back to Baglock...Thanks for the info. I will get back to you...and soon. Josh, I guess Ill save up the $$ then and go with the Bilsteins. Do you concur with Baglock about using the Foxes for my 94?

You do not have to use older 87-93's when you use Bilstein's. They have a different design than Koni & Tokico.

Just the Bilstein HD is what you'll want...
