So I am replacing the fuel tank on my 92 5.0 and pulled the old fuel float out, cleaned it up and ran into a question. The float itself, the little black foam on the end of the swing arm, has a couple wear spots where the actual steel rod that it resides on has cut grooves into it. To me it looks like there should be something more than just the bent wire holding it on and perhaps a washer or something to protect the edges on it from the wire. Perhaps I am overthinking/overengineering it? Also should the actual float be able to swivel around freely? Seems like it should be stationary on the swing arm wire . First time I have ever pulled one so I am clueless. Help?
